There are many essential components when it comes to après ski. Good people, frosty beers and tasty food comes right to mind. However, what often gets overlooked in all of this is unencumbered views of the mountain. Think about it, how much better is après with a view of the mountain?
Whether inside or out, having those slopes in site is just next level. That's exactly why I've spent many a days freezing my butt off drinking beers on a ski resort patios rather than indoors. That's the best après ski and I love just chilling outside looking at the majestic mountains with many others.
The Centerpiece of the Windham Base Area
Windham Mountain realizes how important mountain views can be to a good après scene and are looking to capitalize on this with their new Umbrella Bar. Opening this winter, the Umbrella bar will be the center piece of the patio area between the base lodge and the lift loading area. "The addition of the Umbrella Bar will elevate the already lively après experience at Windham. It literally has ski-in, ski-out access, and that will make it the heart of the base area," says Becky Pine Senior Manager of Marketing at Windham.

The European inspired bar was manufactured by Austrian based company, Meissl and if there is anyone who knows a thing or two about après, it's the Austrians. 33 feet in diameter with room for 125 potential guests it will feature 8 rotating craft beers and other cocktails to enjoy in this climate controlled environment. Pine elaborates, "On chilly winter days, it will provide a cozy, heated haven and on those bluebird spring days we all live for, it’s the perfect place to soak in the sun while you’re having a cold one."
Throw in the patio BBQ and a host on new events and entertainment set for this winter and it is clear to see that Windham is elevating an already fun scene to new heights.
