What No One Will Tell You About Mount Snow's Snow Barn

Every mountain has one. You know, the one après spot that is just a little bit different than the others. It's the bar that seemingly provides it patrons with a story or five each time they go in. It's that one place on the mountain that people either love or hate, and it's for basically the exact same reason. Me? I fall into the "love it" category more often than not. These bars are what they are...different. And, in a ski resort world that is becoming more and more cookie cutter, different is exactly what we need.

If You Don't Apres Ski Tee   Apres Ski Quiver Tee

At Mount Snow, the bar that most resembles this description is The Snow Barn. Set just a touch off the mountain overlooking Snow Lake it's atmosphere is miles away from the more traditional bars located at the base area. With decor resembling a frat house's basement the Snow Barn may turn first timers away. However, with a devoted arcade section that compliments, a good selection of local brews, some seriously good pizza and a lively music scene, it a solid après ski spot for anyone looking to get away from the bustle of the base lodge.

For families, the Snow Barn is a homerun during après ski. Games like skee-ball are the perfect distraction for the kids while the parents toss a few back before calling it a day. In fact, these diversions could cause you to stay a little longer than you originally intended, but don't worry, you can soak all that beer up with their house specialty, pizza. Some damn good pizza that is and, what kid doesn't love that? Talk about ideal for families.

When the Lights Go Out Snow Barn Turns up the Live Tunes

Once the après and dinner crowd clears out, things really rev up into high gear for what the Snow Barn is most known for, live concerts. With local and national acts performing on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the ski season, the Snow Barn has developed a reputation as having one of the best live music scenes in all of Vermont. I have been there a number of times to see the likes of Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and the perennial fan favorite, Jeff Tuohy and it is always a rocking good time. But don't take my word for it, with some great shows coming up, you can find out for yourself at any one of the following:
