Yeah it's Memorial Day weekend. Yeah it's the unofficial start to summer. But, does that mean that winter has to end? For many of us east coast skiers, ski season is a distant memory, but there remains one last bastion of opposition to the fully green mountains of Vermont. Yup, you guessed it...Killington.
Killington is still spinning it's Superstar Express Quad giving you access to their Superstar trail or more lovingly known as the Superstar glacier. No surprise that there is still snow on this trail. If you were there for the FIS World Cup in November, I am fairly certain that Superstar was the snowiest place in America at the time. This inordinate amount of snow has withstood the test of time and temperatures and the best part is that there doesn't seem to much end in sight. For this weekend, Killington plans to run their lifts Friday-Monday and skiing into early June seems like a reality at this point.
Say's long time Killington skier, Josh McBride, "There's no better après ski beer than after a day of ripping moguls on Superstar in May when it's 60 degrees and sunny." Hard to argue with that logic, so if you've got the itch to get a few more turns in this spring, head up to Killington, shred the gnar and have your Memorial Day BBQ in the parking lot after. Now that's après.
If you make your way to "The Beast" this Memorial Day weekend, don't forget to post your All About Après Ski Team pics repping your après ski clothes from All About Après. Our new AAA Signature après ski shirts are now available and our AAA Distressed Trucker is the perfect après ski hat for the spring.
