Killington Goes Next Level With This Year's FIS Cup Concerts

On a recent flight home from Utah, I struck up a conversation with the woman next to me on the plane. Turns out she worked marketing for the U.S. Women's World Cup Team. As a fan of all things skiing and having grown up skiing Killington, we chatted for quite some time particularly on the upcoming race there. She continuously reiterated how great a venue Killington is to host a race and, more importantly, how incredible the fan base in the East is. Elaborating by saying that The Beast of the East draws more fans each year for this race than any other American location. Simply amazing, and just one of the many reasons why they are poised to host the Killington Cup for the third consecutive year over Thanksgiving weekend.

Aside from the spectacle of having some of the world's greatest female skiers in town for the race, Killington puts on quite a show. They are continuously reinventing themself when it comes to the entertainment factor by providing fans with the ultimate World Cup experience. "Combining an expanded entertainment lineup with the United States' premier womens' ski racing event makes for a unique, weekend party at Killington for fans of all ages that is free and open to the public," says Rob Megnin, director of marketing and sales for Killington Resort. "Guests who come for the whole weekend, Friday through Sunday, will have will have an opportunity to experience Killington like never before. The combination of live music, fireworks show, movie premiers and, of course, ski racing will create a unique mountain event guests have never experienced before."

This year they have really gone next level and will host free concerts every day that weekend and the lineup is sick. Paul Oakenfold will kick the festivities off on Friday along with fireworks and the new TGR movie Far Out. Saturday it is KT Tunstall and Michael Franti's turn to play between giant slalom runs and a viewing of Warren Miller's new flick, Face of Winter. Then close out this incredible weekend with the always entertaining, Guster. There is no doubt that, "It's a fantastic way to kick off the ski season and all attendees will be wowed with a weekend of thrilling racing, a top music line-up and tons of entertainment. World Cup is always and amazing experience in an amazing place," says Herwig Demschar.
