Create Your Own Signature Gin at Alpine Distilling in Park City

Gin has come a long way since the days of Snoop Dogg rapping about 'Gin and Juice.' Not to knock on Seagrams, that gin fit perfectly into that line of the song. But let's be honest, it's not the best Gin on the planet. Nope, that distinction belongs to none other than Park City's own Sara Sergent and Alpine Distilling

You may drink Gin. You also may have even had Alpine Distilling's Gin. However, have you ever dreamed of creating your own unique gin? Turns out that at Alpine Distilling Bar in Park City, Utah, you can do just that! Their gin-making experience is a must-do for any gin lover, cocktail enthusiast or just someone looking to partake in a unique après ski activity.

Craft Your Own Gin at Alpine Distilling Bar

Alpine Distilling is an award-winning distillery, that prides itself on creating meticulously crafted spirits. Their gin is a delightful fusion of flavors that artfully crafts the essence of nine hand-picked botanicals including juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root and citrus peel.

At Alpine Distilling, the gin-making journey is an immersive and enlightening experience. During this process, you and your group will delve into the captivating history of gin and explore its diverse variations. The adventure is not only informative but interactive and personalized. Each member of your group will handpick their preferred botanicals and distill your very own signature gin. The final product is destined to be cherished and savored as you'll be able to take home a bottle filled with the spirit of your creative endeavor.

What to Expect at the Alpine Distilling Gin-Making Experience

Alpine Distilling Gin

If you are looking for unique things to do in Park City, the gin-making experience at Alpine Distilling is an excellent choice. Walking into the swanky Alpine Distilling bar, Sara and/or someone from her staff will be waiting with a smile. Once greeted you will most certainly be offered one of their signature cocktails and I suggest you partake.

Let's be honest, no one wants to make Gin without something to sip on and their cocktails are as good as you'll have. For me, I'm an Old Fashioned guy. This time around they stirred one up for me with their barrel-aged gin. A new take on a classic, it rivaled any Old Fashioned I've ever had. Meanwhile, the Park City Negroni that my wife enjoyed was light, refreshing and quite tasty.

Sipping on these fine craft cocktails we made our way towards the back. That's where all the magic happens. As you lounge and chat amongst friends, you'll learn about the different stages of the gin-making process, from selecting the botanicals to distilling the gin.

Selecting The Perfect Combination of Botanicals

Alpine Distilling Gin Making Experience

Education aside, it's time to select your own botanicals and begin crafting your gin. Alpine Distilling has a wide variety of botanicals to choose from. The exact number escapes me as I tried so many I forgot. However, juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, citrus peel and more were all options. Sara expertly presents and explains each one as you taste, smell and take notes in order to determine which combination of botanicals you would like to include in your gin.

Having gone through the tasting process the last step is to select your botanicals, and distill. Each guest gets to distill their gin in these really cute small copper pot still. The distillation process takes about two hours, during which time you can continue to socialize amidst cocktails and their delicious pie...yes, pie.

In no time and by the end of the evening, your gin will be finished and you'll have your very own personalized bottle to take home!

The Best Après-Ski Attire

An après-ski activity such as this ranks right near the top of things to do after skiing at one of the Park City, Utah ski resorts. However, it requires a smooth transition from the slope to the bar. That said, you'll want the best and most functional après-ski fashion for the job. For an event such as distilling your own gin, I highly recommend our 1/2 Zip Performance Pullover. Available in men's and women's, it has been called by some the "best mid-layer they've ever worn." It also looks really nice and is easy to throw on after a day on the mountain.
