Après ski isn't just about unwinding with drinks and socializing (although those are important too!). It's a chance to create lasting memories and bond with your fellow skiers and snowboarders. Here are a few ideas to get the après ski party started, perfect for groups of all sizes and ages.
Après Ski Games: Beyond the Bar
Many people think of après ski as hanging out at the bar, but there's so much more to it! Games are a fantastic way to break the ice, get people laughing, and create some lasting memories. Here are a few ideas to get the playful après party started, whether you're at a cozy lodge or a bustling resort:
5 Après Ski Activities for the Entire Family
1. Snowball Toss
We all used to have snowball fights when we were kids. Why not reinvent the wheel and turn it into a fun game? You know, one that doesn't involve getting hit in the face. Instead of throwing at each other, set up targets in the snow and take turns tossing snowballs to see who can hit the most. If you want to step it up a notch, give the targets point values. Make some of the targets more challenging than others and keep your overall score. This game is not only fun but can involve the entire family.
2. Ski Boot Relay
Everybody likes a good boot dancing sesh, but how about a ski boot relay race? Gather your team and set up a relay race where participants must run in ski boots. Make the course as straightforward or challenging as you want. This hilarious activity will have everyone laughing as they struggle to navigate the snow in their bulky boots.
3. Snowman Building Contest
This winter one of the youngins in our group really, really wanted to channel her inner Olaf and build a snowman. So we turned it into a contest and you can too. Divide into teams and see who can build the best snowman. Get creative with accessories and decorations to make your snowman stand out. This activity is perfect for all ages and encourages teamwork.
4. Hot Cocoa Taste Test
Warm up from the cold day with a hot cocoa taste test. Set up a station with different flavors and toppings for everyone to try. Divide the kids into teams and have them create their best hot chocolate concoction. Then, vote on the best combination and enjoy a cozy treat after a day in the cold.
5. Flip Cup Après Style
No good après ski gathering is complete without a tried and true drinking game. Flip Cup is always a fan favorite and although I do enjoy playing with beer it can be played with any drink of choice. Hot chocolate might be a stretch but cider or juice instead of beer for a more family-friendly twist on this classic party game.
Après Ski Entertainment to Keep the Fun Going
With these après ski games and activities, the fun doesn't have to end when the lifts stop spinning. New twists on old games like the ones mentioned above are certain to be crowd-pleasers. More importantly, they can be played by people of all ages. So when your ski day ends, keep the spirit of the slopes alive with friendly competition and laughter that will create lasting memories for years to come.
