Spring skiing is well underway and thanks to an epic March that saw record setting snow totals here in the east, many of the Vermont resorts have extended their season until late April and beyond. However, if I am being realistic, the 2017-2018 ski season is winding down and summer is on the horizon. With that comes a transition away from the slopes to warm weather activities that include hiking, biking and, of course, festivals. It's hard not to love a good festival especially ones that are centered around music. The carefree nature of people coming together and celebrating a good...

Longer days are here though, now that the calendar has turned to March but with these storms, it would appear that this spring season will be the best of both worlds, featuring tons of early pow and more...

Photo Credit: Lauren Stagnetti Vermont is filled with many firsts when it comes to the ski industry. The ski patrol, the rope tow, snowboarding, they all got their start in the green mountain state and are the inspiration behind Ski Vermont's tagline, Skiing in its original state. Not to be outdone by any of these famous firsts, is the Trapp Family Lodge which opened America's first dedicated cross country ski center in  Vermont in 1968. Located on a 2,500 acre piece of property in Stowe, Vermont, the lodge is currently run by the third generation von Trapps whose ancestors fled from Austria and...

Stratton Hosts SKI-QX Winter Music Festival I love all kinds of music, from rap to country to Sinatra, I listen to it all. However, when recently asked what type of tunes I jam to on the way up to the mountain I gave it very little thought, answering instantly, alternative music. Maybe it's because I grew up during the 90's when the grunge alternative scene was at its height, but there is something about that genre that just fires me up for the weekend. In fact, having made the drive from Jersey to Vermont many times, I have developed a list of favorite...
