Essential Après Ski Gear for Maximum Comfort

Après ski, the time spent relaxing and socializing after a day on the slopes, is an essential part of any ski trip. To fully enjoy this experience, it's crucial to have comfortable and functional gear. In this post, we'll explore the best après ski essentials to keep you cozy and relaxed during your downtime.

Essential Après Ski Gear

Comfortable Footwear

Start from the ground up. Let's face it, those damn ski boots are brutal. So you'll definitely want to kick out of them as soon as possible and slide into something comfortable.

  • Slip on Shoes: For indoor warmth and relaxation but outdoor grip, slip-ons are a must-have. Opt for soft, insulated options with good traction to prevent slips and falls. Two of my favorites are the Line Après Booties which are insanely comfortable and offer a unique sense of style. The new Teva ReEmber Terrain is also a great option. With no back you can slide ride into them and start dancing around in no time.
  • Waterproof Boots: If you plan on venturing outside during après ski, waterproof boots with good insulation are essential. Look for boots with comfortable linings and sturdy soles to keep your feet warm and dry in any weather. We love the Forsake Mason High for its looks, comfort and functionality in tough conditions.

Insulated Clothing

Ridge Merino Convict Hoodie
  • Thick Socks: Warm feet are essential for overall comfort, so invest in thick, insulated socks made from materials like wool or merino wool. The Darn Tough Crew Lightweight is a solid option. Lightweight enough to be comfortable while still helping regulate temperature and keep your feet dry.
  • Warm Sweaters or Hoodies: A cozy sweater or hoodie is a versatile piece of après ski clothing. Choose a style that complements your personal taste and provides ample warmth without being too bulky. We may be biased, but we love our collection of long sleeves and hoodies. Aside from being comfortable and warm, their cheeky graphics are always a good conversation starter. Ridge Merino also makes a wide variety of versatile gear, my absolute favorite of which is the Convict Canyon Hoodie. Wear it on the mountain for the perfect mid-layer then right to après ski where it's stylish looks will certainly stand out.

  • Insulated Jackets or Vests: For chilly evenings or outdoor activities, an insulated jacket or vest can be a lifesaver. Look for options with high-quality insulation and waterproof features to keep you warm and dry. The new Helly Hansen x Recco Odin Everdown is exactly what you are looking for. The down insulation will keep you warm and protected from the elements without all the puffiness of other down jackets on the market.

Accessories

Turtle Fur Beanie
  • Hats: Protect your extremities from the cold with warm hats and gloves. Choose styles that are comfortable and provide adequate insulation. We also have an awesome collection of hats and beanies but would also suggest the new yak wool Mara Pom from Turtle Fur for an amazing combination of warmth and style.
  • Gloves: Gloves are an absolute necessity, if for nothing else just to keep your hand warm while it holds that frosty après ski beer you'll be drinking. If you have a good ski glove like the Give’r 4 Seasons Gloves it can transition from the slopes to the fire pit with ease.
  • Sunglasses: Even during après ski, sunglasses can be useful for protecting your eyes from the sun's glare, especially on sunny days. There are so many great options to choose from however, I really love the Costa Grand Catalina in Hull White with the blue lens. The colors just scream après ski.

Tips for Choosing the Right Après Ski Gear

  • Consider the Climate: Choose gear appropriate for the region's weather conditions. If you're skiing in a colder climate, you'll need more insulation than in a milder climate.
  • Prioritize Comfort: Select materials that are soft, breathable, and moisture-wicking. Avoid materials that are itchy or uncomfortable.
  • Think about Versatility: Consider gear that can be used both on and off the slopes. For example, a versatile jacket or a 1/2 Zip Pullover, can be worn on the mountain and during après ski activities.
  • Pay Attention to Fit: Ensure your gear fits well for maximum comfort and warmth. Ill-fitting clothing can be uncomfortable and may not provide adequate insulation.

Time to Enjoy Your Unforgettable Après Ski Adventure

Having the right après ski gear can significantly enhance your overall ski trip experience. By investing in comfortable and functional clothing and accessories, you can relax and enjoy your downtime in style. So, pack your bags with these essentials and get ready for a cozy and unforgettable après ski adventure.
