Five Craft Beers to Drink This Father's Day

Just in case you didn't know, Father's Day is this weekend. I always enjoy spending time with my dad usually with a barbecue and some craft beer. Now, that I have three daughters of my own, the tables have turned.

As a dad, Father's Day has a new meaning for me but, the more it changes the more it stays the same. Come Sunday you can bet that there will be some delicious BBQ on the smoker and copious amounts of local craft beer to pair it with.

So we’re saying “cheers” to all of the fathers in our lives by adding five craft beers to our growing craft beer blog that you can share with your dad when you are firing up the grill this Father's Day weekend.

Icarus Brewing | Pineapple Hindenburg

Icarus Brewing Pineapple Hindenberg

It comes around once a year (well, sometimes twice) but it is worth the wait. This is my absolute favorite beer from Icarus Brewing, the Jersey Shore craft brewery that is known more for their hazy hoppy IPA's. Pineapple Hindenburg, appropriately named after the famous German zeppelin that blew up over New Jersey, is an absolute explosion in taste. Subtly sweet at first and not overpowering, it balances out perfectly with the hops while finishing with a mild spicy habanero kick.

Kane Brewing | Sneakbox

Kane Brewing Sneakbox is arguably the best pale ale in New Jersey. I would even go as far as putting it right up there with Half Acre's highly touted Daisy Cutter. That's why I drink it regularly and there is no doubt I will have a few coursing through my veins this Father's Day weekend. Lighter in abv but full of tropical flavors such as mandarin, pineapple and lemon, it is the perfect complement to a hot summer day.

Last Wave Brewing | Dawn Patrol

I'm not a huge gose guy. Sometimes overly sweet, sometimes overly sour...the style can be a bit inconsistent for me. However, last summer, when the bartender at Last Wave Brewing encouraged me to try Dawn Patrol I was immediately hooked. Their guava gose is the ideal apres surf craft beer. Slightly tart, easy-drinking it finishes with a touch of sea salt that is reminiscent of the Jersey Shore itself.

Wet Ticket Brewing | Tastes Like Summer Watermelon Wheat

Wet Ticket Brewing Tastes Like Summer Watermelon Wheat

There is a reason that Wet Ticket Brewing can't brew enough of their pale watermelon wheat ale. It really does taste like summer. Who doesn't love a nice big juicy watermelon wedge on a hot summer day? Now you can get it in the can. Wheat ales lend themselves to being brewed as fruit beers and this case, Wet Ticket nailed it. Light and refreshing, you get a subtle hint of watermelon with every sip.

Common Roots Brewing Company | Party Shirt Fridays Pineapple

There is no better way to kick off Father's Day weekend than by rocking your party shirt on Friday. Just be sure to have plenty of Common Roots Party Shirt Fridays on hand when you do. Brewed with plenty of pineapple, this IPA is bursting with tropical flavor rounded out by the hops and a touch of lactose. One sip and you'll be cast away to island donning your party shirt and some board shorts.

Whether you are sitting on the beach watching the tide roll in or barbecuing with your dad apres surf, drinking craft beer requires the perfect gear. My dad loves his All About Apres Custom Wooden Koozie to keep his beers cold, but if you're looking to live the All About Apres lifestyle, you cannot go wrong with anything from our entire catalog. Subscribe to our Craft Beer Blog to stay on top of the latest brews.
