Learn to Ski and Ride this January in Colorado Ski Country

Denver, Colo. – December 6, 2016 – January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month across America and Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) member ski areas and resorts are offering special promotions and programs to make it easier than ever for people to learn Colorado’s signature winter sports. Guests visiting CSCUSA member resorts in January will find package deals on rentals, lift tickets and professional instruction. Many ski areas will reward successful first-time participants with a complimentary season pass or discounted lift tickets.

With more terrain opening across Colorado throughout December and a small army of dedicated professional instructors ready to create lifelong skiers or snowboarders, January is the perfect time to hit the slopes for the first time or to introduce a friend or family member to Colorado Ski Country.

Below is a summary of the Learn to Ski and Snowboard activities and offerings at CSCUSA member ski areas.

 

Wolf Creek Ski Area

Camp Robbers Clinic for Kids

Wolf Creek Ski Area offers a variety of ski and snowboard packages to help introduce first timers to the sport. During January, Wolf Creek offers a four-week Camp Robbers clinic for kids. For $231 ($273 for non-Season Pass holders) lift tickets, ski rental, four hours of instruction, lunches and snacks are all included each week. Children will be grouped with the same children and instructor each week during the clinic. This class design encourages socialization and friendship over the four-week span. Winter Park Resort

Fast Track 5 Lesson
Colorado’s oldest Ski and Ride School has a pair of specials to celebrate Learn to Ski and Ride month. During January, first-timers receive 25 percent off of a Fast Track 5 lesson, a convenient half-day semi-private lesson that is limited to five students per instructor. The special is valid any Monday through Thursday in January, but must be booked online in advance. On Friday, January 6, Winter Park will join resorts from all over the country for the World’s Largest Lesson. Skier Appreciation Day and Student/Teacher Appreciation Day

On January 6, Sunlight will once again become America's most affordable ski area for a day as part of its 30th Annual Skier Appreciation Day offering skiers and riders $20 lift tickets. All lift ticket proceeds are donated to the United Way of Garfield County. The event has raised more than $200,000 for local charities. Sunlight also hosts its annual Student/Teacher Appreciation Day on Sunday, January 10, with free lift tickets for teachers and $20 lift tickets for students. Powderhorn

Learn to Ski or Snowboard Series

Powderhorn’s Learn to Ski or Snowboard program is for first timer skiers aged 5 and older and Snowboarders aged 7 and older. The program includes three full-days of lessons, EZ rider lift tickets and rentals for $169. Upon completion, participants will receive a Graduate Card that entitles them to 50 percent off any additional lessons, rentals or lift tickets for the remainder of the winter season. Lesson, Lift and Equipment Rental Package for Children and Adults

Eldora Mountain Resort is offering the Start with Woodward Children’s Learn to Ski and Snowboard Package for $159. The day package includes an all mountain lift ticket, all day rental and all day lesson with snacks and lunch. Eldora’s new innovative and progressive day lesson will inspire and motivate kids through body awareness, coordination and basic skill development. Reservations are recommended. Adult First Time Beginner Adventure Lesson

During the month of January, first time skiers and riders ages 15 and older can sign up for a First Time Beginner Adventure lesson with the Crested Butte Ski and Ride School. This package includes a full-day ski or snowboard lesson, full day adult lift ticket (valid for limited lift access on the day of the lesson) and half off a single-day equipment rental package. Three Lesson Package

Cooper’s First Timer Three Lesson Package is for those who are completely new to skiing and snowboarding and is available for adults ages 13 years and older. Copper Mountain’s Ski and Ride University offers three lessons with lift tickets, equipment rentals, close in parking and lunch on the 2nd and 3rd day for just $249. After completing the 3rd lesson, graduates receive a free Copper Mountain season pass for the remainder of the season and 50 percent off next seasons’ pass. Those wanting to enroll in Ski and Ride University must purchase the product in person, be 18 years of age or older and new to skiing and snowboarding. Buttermilk Deluxe Package

First Timer Lessons

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area’s First Timer lessons are half-day only lessons for first time skiers and snowboarders. Adult (ages 15+) tickets are $70 and include the lesson and lift ticket. Equipment rentals are not included, but guests can find alpine ski and snowboard rentals on-site at the Arapahoe Basin rental shop.
