It's been a minute since we last put up a gear review on our All About Apres gear blog. In fact, the last time we did an outdoor gear review was this winter when we gave you an in-depth look at the Hangtime Koala. If you haven't read that blog post yet, I encourage you to. It's a piece of gear that I or my family just cannot live without and makes having a cell phone out while skiing so much safer.
Speaking of gear that I can't live without, it's time to take a deep look into one item that I am totally digging this summer, the Rinconcito Polarized Sunglasses by Costa.

With the warm weather in full swing, I have switched our outdoor gear review coverage over from winter necessities to summer ones. In other words, we're looking at gear that makes my life better when I'm chilling out with my chilling with family and friends après surf. The sun, sand and an ocean breeze bring about a whole new set of requirements and nothing is more important than a good pair of polarized sunglasses.
A good pair of sunglasses are a must at any time of the year, but especially in the summer months. With the sun being hotter, brighter and longer lasting you'll need to protect your peepers all day long. That's where the Costa Rinconcito Polarized Sunglasses come into play. Previously known mostly for their boating sunglasses the Rinconcito and its older brother the Rincon have ushered Costa into a new, more global, lifestyle market. This has ultimately been a game changer for Costa.

Made from durable bio-based nylon, they can stack up to whatever punishment ocean life throws at them. However, their limitations go far beyond the sea. I've worn them hiking, biking and even on the golf course and the Rinconcito perform equally as well in each of these environments.
Simply stated, they are made to perform. The anti-slip hydrolite strips on the nose and and temple tips are true to their name. They actually get stickier the sweatier you get. That means that the summer heat only helps keep the Rinconcito on your face. Brilliant!
I also really dig the spring hinges on the arms of the sunglasses. The added level of flexibility gives the Rinconcito the comfort you'd expect without compromising the security of these sporty sunglasses.
Most importantly the Rinconcito is equipped with 580 polarized lenses. These lenses are as good as they get. Plus Costa takes it to another level by giving you so many options to choose from including: polycarbonate, glass, prescription and a variety of different shades.
Their variety is really quite impressive.
Performance Sunglasses With a Lifestyle Look
The Costa Rinconcito have become my go to shades for this summer thanks to their killer combination of looks and performance. With a name that has origins in California, Costa designed the Rinconcito with a little West Coast flare. The lifestyle look has less of a wrap to them then some of their previous seafaring designs.
I don't do a ton of boating. I'm more of a beach to the bar guy, so this kind of style is appealing to me. As is the Rinconcito's medium fit which works perfectly with my head shape. Combine this kind of style with the aforementioned performance features and the Rinconcito are the perfect polarized sunglasses for my active après surf lifestyle.
