When I think of Big Sky Resort, Lone peak and a massive amount of skiable terrain instantly comes to mind. Après Ski, however, does not. That is not to say that it doesn't exist or that it's not good. It is just not what they are known for, but this is a notion that is all about to change.

For years, Big Sky has been solely about the skiing and rightfully so. It's really, really good. However, having unveiled their recent Big Sky Vision 2025, times are changing. Poised to improve areas across the entire resort, including a $13 million revamping of their mountain village, Big Sky will soon be far more than just a place to ski.

Vista Hall, a major component of the mountain village overhaul, has debuted to the public and is guaranteed to elevate Big Sky dining and après ski to advanced heights. A new multi-station food hall, Vista Hall is located on the upper level of The Exchange, part of Big Sky's reimagined Mountain Village hub. There, skiers and riders can enjoy panoramic mountain views as they feast on a new cuisine every day of the week.

Running the epicurean gamut, hungry patrons have a myriad of choices including: Fresh sushi, street tacos, stone-fired pizza, a classic deli, burger grill, and a European-style coffee and crepe shop. Of course you'll need a drink or two to wash all of this delicious food down.

The Vista Bar will be serving up an array of après ski craft cocktails and local Montana craft beers to whet your whistle. The Exchange remodel also includes a deck expansion, making it big enough for live music, dancing and a much grander view of Lone Peak.

“It is basically the perfect backdrop for a mountain fun: A combination of food and drink with fabulous views, two large new fireplaces, and huge glass doors that can open up to the outdoors on warm bluebird days,” says Taylor Middleton, COO and president, Big Sky Resort.

Westward Social Part of an Enlivened Mountain Village Plaza

The Mountain Village Plaza is also getting its own little face lift that includes a new heated pavement and a forthcoming umbrella bar. Add in its newest restaurant and après ski spot, Westward Social and you can pretty much guarantee the Big Sky après ski experience will certainly be enhanced.

“We expect that this space, along with the newly created heated plaza below it, will become the epicenter of après ski in Mountain Village,” elaborates Middleton.

Now if that doesn't get you thinking about Big Ski après ski. I don't know what will.
