The Burton U.S. Open is upon us. As America's longest running professional snowboard tournament at 35 years and counting it is seen as the grand daddy of them all. One of the sport's most coveted prizes and, this year, a preview, to the 2018 winter Olympics. No slouch itself, Vail Mountain Resort is widely regarded as some of the best skiing in all of North America. With just shy of 200 trails and the famous back bowls, there is no shortage of terrain for skiers and riders. This weekend, both worlds collide as thousands descend on Vail resort in Colorado to not only watch this epic event, but also, ski, ride and party. I mean, how can you blame them. Vail was described to me by my friend last week as the Disney Land of ski resorts, and what is better than that? I'll leave the skiing and riding up to you but when the day ends, you will need an après ski location or two, worthy of this amazing event. With so many great spots to hang, it is kind of hard to determine which ones to visit. So, here are our must visit après ski locations while taking in this week's Burton U.S. Open at Vail.

  1. Bridge Street Bar: With local après ski legend, Steve Meyer, rocking the joint from Wednesday through Saturday there's tons of good times to be had at this apres ski bar.
  2. 10th Mountain Whiskey: Head on over to this tourist and local's favorite for some great drinks and après ski atmosphere.
  3. Shakedown Bar: If you are into live music and a fun scene then this a must for après ski and into the night.
  4. The Red Lion: A Vail classic. Kind of divey, but not really (it is Vail after all). Think bar food, live music and a pretty good beer list.
  5. Los Amigos: There's something about Mexican food and skiing, especially when the margaritas come by the pitcher and the nachos are stacked high. If you're into that kind of stuff then this is your place for après ski.

These five hot spots should be enough to get you started, but if you are looking for even more great après ski locations in Vail visit our friends over at Luxury Ski Trips.  And, whether you are in Vail or not this weekend for the Burton U.S. Open be sure to rock your All About Après gear and send us your pictures to post on our upcoming All About Après Ski Team page.
