Craft Beer Industry Give Skiers and Riders Options

There is nothing like a good beer post pow. The huge craft beer movement has led to the production of so many solid beer choices at après ski. No matter where you choose to celebrate your day on the mountain, you will certainly have options. However, this decades long adoration with ending your ski day with a beer, was not always the case. At one point in history skiers and snowboarders primary drink choice was wine.

In an effort to return to the old days, Old Town Cellars, a ski town winery, is establishing themselves as unique option for après ski in Park City, Utah

As previously mentioned, beer, historically was not the go to spirit during après ski, wine was. In fact, there are many ski destinations around the world, like Chile or France, where wine is still the preferred spirit of choice.

When you think about it, having wine après ski in these cultures, makes total sense. Cheese, Fondue and cured meats have long been après ski food staples at European ski resorts and wine traditionally pairs well with these items.

Seeking to revive these days of yore and establish themselves as, The Official Wine of Après TM, Old Town Cellars has burst onto the scene as one of the best places for après ski in Park City, Utah.

Old Town Cellars was founded by two passionate skiers, Stephen Mackay and Jason Morgan. They both also happen to be equally as passionate about wine. In an effort to combine their two interests, they created Old Town Cellars.

Old Town Cellars is a way to, "merge the wine culture with our mountain culture while offering an easily accessible product and a laid back environment perfect for après ski in Park City," explains Mackay.

Opening a winery is no easy task and one that was only amplified by its location in a ski town. Doing so takes work and a whole lot of support. Their family and friends are huge helps, oftentimes jumping in on bottling days to make this ski town winery a reality.
