If there is one thing that I know about the skiing down here in the NY, NJ and Pa area is that the weather can be a bit unpredictable. When it is good, so is the skiing. When it is iffy, well...we throw a party. Nobody knows how to do this better than Jack Frost Big Boulder, who consistently compliments their fun skiing with a host of entertaining events and an exciting après-ski scene.
A Little Rain Couldn't Slow Jack Frost Down
The most recent of these events was last weekend's Monster Energy After Hours, a freeride competition that offered cash prizes and a debuted a new Monster Energy stair feature. As torrential downpours ripped through the area last week, it was hard to believe that Jack Frost would be in any shape to host such an event. But kudos to their snow making and grooming team who had the mountain in solid condition for the weekend crowd that was there to, not only ski, but take in the pretty sweet set up that they built up for the show
They Can Après Ski With the Best of Them at E 2000
After Hours, which was set up in the area that they call the Boneyard, showcased a variety of hits and features that was not only visible from the base area outside but from the full wall of windows at their, go to après-ski bar, E-2000. What a party that place is? These guys really know how to keep it going after a day on the mountain. With the band Kartune supplying the tunes and the drinks flowing the energy at this bar rivaled any après experience that I have ever been a part of. So much so that they even extended the band for a couple of hours, making it hard to peel my eyes away from all the people dancing and watch the ski session going on below. However, with a two hour drive home still ahead of me and my family waiting for me outside, I thought it best to join them.
Monster Energy After Hours a True Après-Ski Event
Ultimately, this ended up being the right move as the enthusiasm of the crowd outside easily rivaled that inside the bar. The MC and DJ had the people amped as the talented competitors laid down some pretty sick runs especially the first snowboarder who sent it into the Monster Energy stair feature with a back flip. Gnarly! And the TGR Stoke Mobile did exactly that. Maybe the crowd was hopped up on Monsters or just naturally high but the passion of the fans and the riders carried well into the early evening making this After Hours event one to remember.
