We all know how important that first après-ski beer is to all mountain riders. Part relaxing, part revitalizing, it is certainly the perfect thirst-quenching ending to your day on the mountain. Craft breweries have been on the rise for quite some time now across the country leaving us with an abundance of options when it comes to choosing this perfect beer. Utah is often overlooked when it comes to the craft brewing craze thanks to their funky liquor laws. However, having sampled their goods on multiple occasions, I can honestly say that Utah has gotten a bad rap and is a highly underrated when it comes to craft beer. In fact, many of their breweries are producing beers that come home with awards on a year to year basis. This has not gone unnoticed by Utah ski resorts, particularly Snowbasin Resort who will be featuring many of these beers this season with their Tap Takeover program.
Local Breweries Take Over the Taps at Snowbasin Resort Every Weekend This Winter
This past week, Snowbasin Resort released the schedule for their Tap Takeover on Earl’s Patio. Each weekend a different local Brewer will ‘take over the taps’ on the patio of Earl’s Lodge with their best brews for you to enjoy as you hang out and relish in the beautiful view of the mountain. And, if you are a beer geek turned skier the brewers will be on hand to discuss their beers and answer any questions guests have.

Not only does beer pair well with a ski day, it is also the ideal complement to good food. No slouch when it comes to the culinary scene, Snowbasin will also be offering grilled items to purchase and pair with the variety of beers you are sampling. The menu includes comfort food staples such as: meatball subs, Philly Cheesesteaks, buffalo chicken Philly and Maple Chipotle Shredded Jack Fruit Sandwich.
All of this greatness will culminate in the spring when Snowbasin hosts a ‘Brew Madness’ for three weeks in March, where different local breweries take over the taps and guests vote for their favorite. The guest favorite move on to the next round until the season ends with the Brew Madness Finale the weekend of March 30th, where the breweries vie for the favorite brewery of Snowbasin guests.
