I'm not a fan of New Year's Eve. The notion of getting all dolled up to go out to celebrate into the wee hours of the morning, what is really just a new day, is just not appealing to me. However, never one to shy away from a good time, when I find a day filled with fun events followed up by a good après party, I'm always down. This is exactly what will be going on this New Year's Eve at Magic Mountain.
The Secret is Out on Magic Mountain
The locals at Magic Mountain know how to have a good time no matter what the situation and it shows. With a calendar filled with really fun events and a skiing experience that is just plain old sick, this mountain is going to struggle to maintain its status as the, "Best kept secret in Vt" (Liftopia). A tag that will only further diminish since Liftopia honored them with the number one spot in their recent Best in Snow award list. With publicity like this, it will certainly be a secret not more. Not bad for a tiny little local mountain in southern Vermont. I can't blame Liftopia though the place is just does awesome stuff all the time, like their "Tuck it" ski race and NYE Dinner at the Blackline Tavern.
Tuck It and Win Cash
During New Year's Eve day, you can test your mettle while pushing the limits of your top speed in a race down the mountain. There's no gates to impede your progress here. Throw caution to the wind and go full send down Lower Black Line to Hocus Pocus and give yourself the opportunity to win some serious cash prizes. No seriously, the winner will receive $500 cash plus grand prize of new custom designed Silo Skis, a Magic Season Pass and more. Second and third place won't be disappointed either with $300 and $200 cash respectively.
Après Ski Into the New Year at The Black Line Tavern
Quads screaming from being in that tuck, you can kick of apres with Magic's Speed Quaffing event which if you have not seen or played before, you need to. It's the most fun après ski game that you've never heard. Then party the night away at the legendary Black Line Tavern (seriously, the party there is like apres times 10) with their NYE dinner and dancing. For only $35 a person, feast on prime rib and dance all night long to the tunes the DJ will be pumping in the background.
Yeah, it's true, New Year's Eve has never been a big deal to me. But maybe, just maybe it's because I haven't had the opportunity to participate in something as uniquely fun as what will be going on at Magic this year. So, if you don't have plans you should seriously consider heading over there and if you do have plans, you should cancel them and head over there and ring in the New Year with, "The best Kept Secret in Vermont."
