To say that Mount Snow is making some bold moves of late would be an understatement, for sure. Last summer they spent $30 million on their West Lake Water Project that basically gave them unlimited snow making capabilities and the largest snow making system in the East. Mount Snow also broke ground on a new $22 million lodge at the Carinthia Base Area. When all is said and done, hopefully in time for the 2018/19 season, the new lodge will include, among other things, a new restaurant and two new bars. Since I am a huge fan of their current drinking and eating options, I cannot wait to see what next year will bring in that department. In the meantime, Mount Snow is continuing to add their usual awesome après options and recently opening its newest bar, Canned.
New Bar in the Base Lodge Serves Only Local Canned Beer and Cider
The name says it all, as their newest après ski location will only serve canned beers and ciders that are local to the state of Vermont. The fact that Vermont has the highest amount of breweries per-capita of any U.S. state and brews some of the best craft beers in the country makes this concept a brilliant one. And, with small bites such as Bavarian pretzels with a beer cheese dip to compliment their canned bevvies it is really hard to go wrong. What I really love and where I believe this newest après bar will distinguish itself from others is the "drive thru" window and biergarten setup just outside. Just walk right up, order a beer without being tied to wait service and then hang at one of the picnic tables while taking in a great view of the mountain. Says Marcie Stoner, "Whether it's a pit stop in between runs or a place for your kids to wave at you from Blue Bird to check in, Canned is the perfect spot to grab a beer and a bite while checking the score of the game."
Recover From Your "Yahd Sale" With Mount Snow's New Collaboration Brew
On top of opening their newest addition to their legendary après ski scene, Mount Snow also recently announced a limited addition collaboration beer with Foolproof Brewing starting this season. Appropriately named, Yahd Sale is currently available exclusively on draft at several locations across Mount Snow including: The Bullwheel, The Station Tap Room and 1900' Burger. I recently had the opportunity to give this highly sessionable IPA a try and found it to be enjoyable. Brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops, it certainly packs a citrus punch that is quite refreshing after making a few turns. It also has a lower ABV only adding to the drinkability of this tasty beverage option. “It’s been so much fun working with the guys over at Foolproof Brewing coming up with just the right recipe for our guests,” stated Michael Giorgio, director of food and beverage at Mount Snow. “We really think this IPA is going to hit the spot after a day on the slopes.” Based on what I tasted, I'd say it definitely does. Cheers!
