It's All About the Community for Ska Brewing
Last winter someone asked me what I enjoy most about my life in the ski media, to which I responded, "I love being outdoors hanging with fun, happy people all day long and then doing it all over the next day." Seriously, no one is ever angry when they are skiing or, more importantly, at après ski. It's all about being a part of a community who enjoys having fun during the winter months when others are stuck indoors. Community is what brings people together, that and a few good beers to help along the way. One brewery who brews great après ski beers and is just as committed to their local community of Durango, Colorado is Ska Brewing. Now they are looking to share the love by helping the new Lawrence Beer Company do the same in their hometown.
Ska Brewing and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones Join Lawrence Beer Co. for Their Grand Opening
With the grand opening of The Lawrence Beer Company only a week away plans have been set in motion for one killer street party that will include two legends in their own communities: Ska Brewing and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. About a month ago, Lawrence Beer Company President and Co-Founder Matt Williams along with Head Brewer Sam McClain met up with Ska Co-Founder and CEO Dave Thibodeau and Ska brewer Joe Hull at the Ska headquarters in Durango, Colorado and created a collaboration beer. The beer is a dry summer saison brewed with rye and will be flowing from taps at next weekend's event. Along with the collaboration beer the lineup of brews will also include other Ska staples like Mexican Logger, True Blonde, Modus Hoperandi and Pink Vapor Stew as well as an assortment of beers from Lawrence Beer Co. However, great beer is only the tip of the iceberg, live music is always a catalyst in bringing people together and next weekend while drinking those tasty beers, you'll be listening to some sweet tunes from the legendary ska/punk band The Mighty Might Bosstones. I mean I've heard of bands playing at parties before but never one of this magnitude. Lawrence Beer Co. president Matt Williams says that it's all meant to, "thank the City of Lawrence for all the tremendous support with an affordable street party that would enable more of the community to be involved." “We are extremely excited to include a band like The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and it was a no brainer to also partner with our friends at Ska Brewing for the launch."
It's never a bad thing when you are providing tasty beer and great music to the masses and with a thank you party like this, it is certain that Lawrence Beer Co. has taken the lead from Ska Brewing in becoming a permanent fixture in their own community for years to come. In the meantime, get your $10 tickets for this event which are available at lawrencebeerco.com or at the gates day of show. The event takes place at Lawrence Beer Company in the Warehouse Arts District (826 Pennsylvania Street, Lawrence, KS 66044). Gates open at 5 pm on August 25.
