National Bourbon Day

National Bourbon Day: 3 Après-Ski Whiskeys to Sip All Summer Long

Ski season might be over but that doesn't mean the après has to stop. In fact, National Bourbon Day (June 14) gives us the perfect excuse to bring a little of that fireside magic into the summer months. Whether you’re reminiscing about this past season or planning next winter's mountain missions, these three bourbons are trail-tested and après-approved. We even have a summer cocktail recipe to go along with each. Why? Because bourbon belongs on patios just as much as it does in ski lodges.

Let’s raise a glass to National Bourbon Day with some mountain-worthy pours that taste just as good with a view as they do by the fire.

Celebrate National Bourdon Day With These 3 Bourbon Cocktails

Wyoming Whiskey Double Cask

National Bourbon Day

Tasting Notes:
Aged in two types of oak barrels, this one’s rich and round, with deep notes of toffee, toasted vanilla, dried fruit, and just a whisper of spice. Think of it like the golden hour glow over Jackson Hole—warm, bold, and beautiful.

Après Vibes:
This is your late-evening sipper on the deck after a day of high-alpine hiking. Complex enough to drink neat, but smooth enough for a summer cocktail.

Summer Cocktail: Wyoming Sunset Iced Tea

  • 2 oz Wyoming Whiskey Double Cask: a sherry cask-finished bourbon with exceptionally smooth notes of vanilla, candied orange peel and warm spices.

  • 0.75 oz lemon juice

  • 0.50 oz simple syrup

  • 0.50 oz peach liqueur

  • 3 oz black iced tea

Combine all ingredients into a shaker, shake and strain into a collins glass over ice. Garnish with a lemon wheel or dehydrated lemon.

Pendleton 1910 Bourbon

Tasting Notes:
This 12-year-aged bourbon has a silky mouthfeel and delivers subtle rye spice with dried cherries, leather, and a hint of maple. It finishes smooth and sweet with just enough kick to keep things interesting—like a fast groomer run on a bluebird day.

Après Vibes:
Perfect for front porch sunset sessions or post-ride campfire hangs. Pendleton 1910 has the class and character of a seasoned ski bum who’s still rocking vintage gear... and somehow still faster than you.

Summer Cocktail: Wild West Old Fashioned

  • 2 oz Pendleton 1910

  • ¼ oz maple syrup

  • 2 dashes orange bitters

  • 1 dash Angostura bitters

  • Orange peel & cherry

Stir all ingredients with ice, strain over a large cube, and garnish with orange peel and cherry. Sip slow.

Bubba’s Bacon & Pancakes Bourbon

Best Bourbons for summer

Tasting Notes:
Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. This quirky and unapologetically fun bourbon hits you with rich maple sweetness upfront, followed by savory bacon smoke and a buttery pancake finish. It’s breakfast… in a glass.

Après Vibes:
This is tailgate whiskey. Spring skiing lot party. “Let’s make mimosas and bacon, but make it whiskey” energy. It’s ridiculous in the best way possible—and honestly, it kind of slaps.

Summer Cocktail: The Bubba-Rita

  • 1.5 oz Bubba’s Bacon & Pancakes Bourbon

  • 1 oz fresh orange juice

  • ½ oz lemon juice

  • ¼ oz maple syrup

  • Dash of smoked salt

  • Optional: splash of ginger beer

Shake bourbon, juices, syrup, and salt with ice. Strain into a rocks glass over ice. Top with ginger beer if you want a little fizz. Garnish with candied bacon if you’re feeling wild.

Keep the Après Spirit Alive With These Summer Bourbon Cocktails

National Bourbon Day might not fall in ski season, but that doesn’t mean we can’t keep the après spirit alive all summer long. So break out your camp chairs, fire up the grill, and pour yourself one of these mountain-inspired bourbons.

Cheers to good whiskey, good people, and good vibes—on the slopes or off.
