An All About Après top choice for skiing and riding's best après ski beers.
Ski season is well underway and so is après ski season. As our search for new and exciting beers continues, the colder weather and insane amounts of snow that seems to be dumping in every part of the country has my taste buds desiring beers of the darker variety. With that in mind, I recently had the opportunity to try the new winter seasonal from Ska Brewing, Dementia and found it a worthy beer to drink during après ski.

Ska took their traditional winter seasonal, Euphoria Pale Ale to the next level by aging it in bourbon barrels from Peach Street Distillers. The result is Dementia, a beer that lacks the crispness of a traditional pale ale (due to its time sitting in the barrels) but more than makes up for it with the caramel and chocolate flavors it picked up from the aging process. The booziness (yes, I made that word up) of the bourbon is quite evident, but I found the combination of that and the peach/grapefruit aromas and flavor worked really well together. This was especially true when paired with such après ski food delights as pizza, spicy wings, and, of course, nachos.

Dementia is available in limited release 22 oz. bottles that look really cool and since the abv isn't that high, I recommend buying a few. Trust me, you'll drink them.
