Bourbon and Ginger Liqueur Makes This Après Ski Cocktail Smashing
What do you get when you combine a liqueur handmade in Brooklyn with a bourbon distilled in Vermont? A cocktail that is so intense, it's smashing. The newly announced promotional partnership between Barrow’s Intense Ginger Liqueur and Vermont-based Mad River Distillers, makers of Mad River Bourbon is not a marriage that I would have expected, given the difference in location between the two. With Barrow's being handmade in a revitalized borough of the city that never sleeps and Mad River Bourbon Whiskey fermented, distilled and bottled at the company’s Warren, Vermont distillery it's tough to imagine these two opposites joining forces. However, in the new world of craft spirits no partnership can be overlooked, especially when it results in a cocktail as simple, yet creative as The Intense Smash.
What this promotional partnership really boils down to is the detail oriented approach to producing great spirits that each company takes.
“We’re serious about how we make Barrow’s Intense, so working with a bourbon that’s created with the same care and attention to detail is significant for us, as well as for whoever is sipping the cocktail,” said Barrow’s Intense founder, Joshua Morton.
The relationship with Mad River further broadens the versatile portfolio of cutting edge “craft-first” cocktails Barrow’s Intense offers for distinct audiences.
“The Intense Smash is a natural pairing for our craft bourbon, and we’re thrilled to be able to partner with a like-minded maker of liqueur,” said Mimi Buttenheim, president of Mad River Distillers.
The Intense Smash rollout with Mad River Bourbon will take place thru the end of 2017. Both Barrow’s Intense Ginger Liqueur and Mad River Bourbon are available through MS Walker in MA, ME, NH and RI.
