Stratton Mountain Giving Skiers and Snowboarders an Alternative Look at Music Festivals

Stratton Hosts SKI-QX Winter Music Festival

I love all kinds of music, from rap to country to Sinatra, I listen to it all. However, when recently asked what type of tunes I jam to on the way up to the mountain I gave it very little thought, answering instantly, alternative music. Maybe it's because I grew up during the 90's when the grunge alternative scene was at its height, but there is something about that genre that just fires me up for the weekend. In fact, having made the drive from Jersey to Vermont many times, I have developed a list of favorite stations playing alternative tunes all the way up. From WDHA in NJ to WRRV in NY state I’ve got my favorite tunes on lock for the early part of the drive, then right around the time that I hit southern Vermont I immediately switch my dial Vermont’s WEQX and that’s where it stays for the weekend. The station flat out rocks and this  weekend (December8-9) they are partnering with Vermont’s Stratton Mountain in the premiere SKI-QX Winter Music Festival.

Stratton Mountain is Becoming Vermont's go-to Location for Live Music

Stratton Mountain has, in recent years, been positioning themselves as the foremost location for music and skiing. With the likes of Rusted Root and The Wailers rocking the main stage during their summer concert series and Minus Zero, an electronic dance music festival, visiting  the resort the last two winters, there is no doubt that Stratton has really upped their music game. The SKI-QX Winter Music Festival will only enhance this image as it brings national alternative music acts to perform on Stratton Mountain’s indoor and outdoor stages.
