Your legs burn with the sweet ache of a day conquering the legendary Utah mountains. Your stomach, however, rumbles a different tune, demanding more than just adrenaline. This, my friends, is the moment for Eight Settlers Distillery, a haven where ski bums and epicureans collide in a celebration of craft spirits and Utah mountain magic.
Nestled in the foothills of Utah's Cottonwood Canyons, Eight Settlers is not one of your average Utah distilleries. It is a tribute to the pioneering spirit of the eight families who carved out the community of Cottonwood Heights from the rugged Utah landscape. Their story echoes in every bottle, imbued in the meticulous craftsmanship of their spirits.
Green Ditch Gin, a juniper-forward masterpiece, pays homage to the network of irrigation canals that fueled the valley's prosperity. Each sip is a crisp ode to resilience, bright with citrus and botanicals.
For a richer, smokier experience, delve into their Devil's Gate Bourbon. Named after a narrow impassable section of rocky quartz, its rugged terrain forced these settlers to enter the valley where Salt Lake City currently exists. Aged in charred oak barrels, every note whispers of crackling mountain fires and star-studded nights that these settlers saw as they made their way into the area.
However, Eight Settlers Distillery is more than just a liquid playground. Step into their inviting restaurant and enjoy the local experience. Bathed in warm Edison bulbs and the aroma of wood-fired ovens you will quickly realize why they offer some of the best après-ski in Utah.
Here, the Eight Settlers Distillery Menu is more than just craft cocktails. It is an après-ski oasis where hunger finds solace in skillfully crafted dishes that elevate comfort food to an art form. Savor juicy Jumbo Chicken Wings doused in their Ragtown Whiskey BBQ Sauce.
Or, dive into a hearty bowl of Pork Belly Carbonara that will warm you from the inside out. Don't forget to pair your feast with a perfectly curated cocktail, letting the bartender weave magic with Eight Settlers' own spirits.
The magic of Eight Settlers Distillery extends beyond the tasting room and dining tables. Immerse yourself in the distillery's rich history through a guided Utah distillery tour. There you'll witness the alchemy of grain to glass firsthand. On warmer days, soak up the sunshine on their expansive patio, sharing stories and laughter with fellow adventurers.
So, whether you're a seasoned skier carving fresh tracks or a weekend warrior seeking the best après-ski in Utah, Eight Settlers Distillery is your perfect pit stop. Here, the spirit of the mountains infuses every sip, every bite and every interaction. Come for the award-winning spirits and stay for the soul-warming food and vibrant atmosphere. Afterward, you'll have a renewed appreciation for the simple pleasures of a day well spent in Utah's snow-kissed wonderland.
When you come off the slopes and walk into the distillery, you'll want have on the best après ski attire. Our Après Ski Fleece Sweatshirt is an excellent choice. All eyes will surely be on you when you ditch your ski jacket and order a craft cocktail in this classy crewneck.

Arapahoe Basin ski area, located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, is often one of the first ski resorts to open every year. That means you have more time to enjoy the variety of fantastic options for post-skiing enjoyment that they offer. Whether you're looking for a cozy spot to relax with a warm drink or a lively atmosphere to dance the night away, Arapahoe Basin has something for everyone. Here are five of the best places for après ski at Arapahoe Basin.
The 6th Alley Bar & Grill is easily the most popular après-ski spot at A-Basin. Located in the base lodge it offers a wide selection of beers on tap, as well as cocktails and wine. Line up on opening day to be a part of the yearly mug club. The line is often long but the street cred and extra few ounces of beer you get is worth the wait.
The bar also has a food menu that features classic après-ski fare such as burgers, wings, and nachos. Their Bacon Bloody Mary's are also legendary and some of the best in the high country. So if you are looking to meet other skiers and snowboarders in a lively atmosphere the 6th Alley Bar & Grill is the spot to be.

Arapahoe Basin's Black Mountain Lodge (BML) is the perfect place to relax and refuel. Located mid-mountain at the top of the Black Mountain Express Lift, BML is accessible from all parts of the mountain. This makes it a great meeting spot for skiers and riders of all ability levels.
Head there with your crew and enjoy a variety of delicious food and drinks. However, what you really NEED to get when there is the BBQ. Smoked in-house, this BBQ is legit. For those who aren't into smoked meat, there are plenty of other delicious options including soups and stews, hearty salads, and, of course, award-winning Bloody Marys.
On nice days, be sure to head out to the BML deck. It is definitely the place to be. Grab a local beer on tap to pair with your BBQ and refuel while taking in the stunning views of the East Wall.

There are many ski resorts that have areas they refer to as "The Beach," However, none are nearly are popular as Arapahoe Basin's. This unique area, located near the base of the mountain, allows skiers to park their chairs and enjoy the sun while sipping on their favorite beverages. Bring your own grill, set up a picnic, and join fellow skiers in a relaxed and friendly environment. It's the perfect spot to soak up the sun, unwind, and create lasting memories.

When it comes to finding the best après ski spots at Arapahoe Basin, you may just have to travel a bit. A-Basin doesn't have any on-site lodging. One place that stands out is Kickapoo Tavern.
Located at the base of River Run Village, this lively establishment is an excellent option for skiers and snowboarders looking to unwind after a day on the slopes. Their selection of craft beers is nothing short of impressive. So too is Kickapoo Tavern's menu which is filled with plenty of excellent items for everyone to choose from.

Not located on-site, Bakers Brewery and Restaurant is still an excellent choice for après-ski after skiing at A-Basin. Located in nearby Silverthorne, it is very popular with locals and visitors looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of being at the resort.
Bakers Brewery and Restaurant has a large bar and dining area, as well as a patio where you can enjoy the mountain air.

]]>You may drink Gin. You also may have even had Alpine Distilling's Gin. However, have you ever dreamed of creating your own unique gin? Turns out that at Alpine Distilling Bar in Park City, Utah, you can do just that! Their gin-making experience is a must-do for any gin lover, cocktail enthusiast or just someone looking to partake in a unique après ski activity.
Alpine Distilling is an award-winning distillery, that prides itself on creating meticulously crafted spirits. Their gin is a delightful fusion of flavors that artfully crafts the essence of nine hand-picked botanicals including juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root and citrus peel.
At Alpine Distilling, the gin-making journey is an immersive and enlightening experience. During this process, you and your group will delve into the captivating history of gin and explore its diverse variations. The adventure is not only informative but interactive and personalized. Each member of your group will handpick their preferred botanicals and distill your very own signature gin. The final product is destined to be cherished and savored as you'll be able to take home a bottle filled with the spirit of your creative endeavor.
If you are looking for unique things to do in Park City, the gin-making experience at Alpine Distilling is an excellent choice. Walking into the swanky Alpine Distilling bar, Sara and/or someone from her staff will be waiting with a smile. Once greeted you will most certainly be offered one of their signature cocktails and I suggest you partake.
Let's be honest, no one wants to make Gin without something to sip on and their cocktails are as good as you'll have. For me, I'm an Old Fashioned guy. This time around they stirred one up for me with their barrel-aged gin. A new take on a classic, it rivaled any Old Fashioned I've ever had. Meanwhile, the Park City Negroni that my wife enjoyed was light, refreshing and quite tasty.
Sipping on these fine craft cocktails we made our way towards the back. That's where all the magic happens. As you lounge and chat amongst friends, you'll learn about the different stages of the gin-making process, from selecting the botanicals to distilling the gin.
Education aside, it's time to select your own botanicals and begin crafting your gin. Alpine Distilling has a wide variety of botanicals to choose from. The exact number escapes me as I tried so many I forgot. However, juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, citrus peel and more were all options. Sara expertly presents and explains each one as you taste, smell and take notes in order to determine which combination of botanicals you would like to include in your gin.
Having gone through the tasting process the last step is to select your botanicals, and distill. Each guest gets to distill their gin in these really cute small copper pot still. The distillation process takes about two hours, during which time you can continue to socialize amidst cocktails and their delicious pie...yes, pie.
In no time and by the end of the evening, your gin will be finished and you'll have your very own personalized bottle to take home!
I highly recommend the gin making experience at Alpine Distilling, whether you're looking for a unique apres-ski activity in Park City or just visiting at another time. Here are a few reasons why:
The gin making experience at Alpine Distilling is a must-do for any gin lover or cocktail enthusiast. The experience is both informative and fun. Throughout the process, you'll learn about the art of gin making, create your own unique gin and enjoy delicious cocktails in a fun and social setting.
The gin making experience is very popular and by invitation only. Therefore it needs to be booked in advance. To do so, visit their website and lock in your date for this winter.
An après-ski activity such as this ranks right near the top of things to do after skiing at one of the Park City, Utah ski resorts. However, it requires a smooth transition from the slope to the bar. That said, you'll want the best and most functional après-ski fashion for the job. For an event such as distilling your own gin, I highly recommend our 1/2 Zip Performance Pullover. Available in men's and women's, it has been called by some the "best mid-layer they've ever worn." It also looks really nice and is easy to throw on after a day on the mountain.

Despite what anyone tells you, après ski calls for the perfect outfit that strikes a balance between style and comfort. And, in many cases, this differs from one ski town to another. Fear not! We are here to help guide you through the intricacies of après ski clothing and determine what outfits will make you stand out in any North American ski town.
Before diving into the specific outfits, let's understand the essence of après ski attire. For me, it's all about transitioning seamlessly from the slopes to a social setting. That's why I created a clothing line that is cheeky and comfortable. The graphic tees and hoodies are conversation starters and will definitely get the people going. The key is to create a look that is both fashionable and functional. They keep you warm while exuding a unique sense of style.
To curate the perfect après ski outfit, certain clothing pieces are essential. Here are some must-haves:
Now that we have the necessities dialed in, it's time to look at how it all fits in at ski towns across North America. Sure, a flannel and jeans will work no matter where you are, however, it is always nice to spruce it up a bit based on location. With that in mind, let's explore the unique fashion trends that are popular in these North American ski towns:
a. Aspen, Colorado - Refined Elegance: Despite what Dexter and TJ dressed in, Aspen boasts a sophisticated post-mountain scene. When visiting a little place called Aspen, it would be wise to embrace your inner Bogner and rock some designer knitwear, fur-trimmed parkas, and sleek ski pants. Accessorize with statement jewelry and fashionable sunglasses to ensure your fit is as elevated as the mountains.
b. Whistler, Canada - Casual Cool: In Whistler, a laid-back and casual approach is the norm. Time to bust out your best flannel shirt, puffer jacket, and denim jeans. Cover up your helmet hair with a stylish beanie or a trucker hat for a touch of Canadian coolness, eh.
c. Jackson Hole, Wyoming - Rugged Western Charm: Embrace the charm of the Wild West when visiting Jackson Hole. There, après ski fashion reflects the rugged Western charm that the town is known for. Flannel shirts, denim jackets, and cowboy-inspired boots will have you looking and feeling like Robert Redford in Jeremiah Johnson. If you want to go the distance (and you should when partying at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar) add a stylish leather belt and a Cowboy hat for a little more Western flair.
d. Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada - Mountain Casual: Lake Tahoe is the epitome of mountain casual. Flannels, sweaters, insulated vests and comfortable leggings or jeans are excellent choices. Just know that layering is the key to success. Temperatures there can really fluctuate and being able to take clothes off and on is important. Whatever you do, don't forget to top it off with a warm beanie or a stylish hat to tie your whole outfit together.
Après ski attire is an integral part of the ski town experience. By choosing your outfit wisely you'll be able to both express your style and enjoy the post-ski atmosphere. Choose clothing pieces that combine fashion with functionality, and adapt your outfit to the unique fashion trends of the North American ski town you're visiting.
Whether you're basking in the refined elegance of Aspen, embracing the casual coolness of Whistler, immersing yourself in the Western charm of Jackson Hole, or embracing the mountain casual vibe of Lake Tahoe, your après ski outfit will make a statement and ensure you're ready to relax in style after an unforgettable day on the slopes.
If you enjoy finding out about the best places to hang out on your next ski trip and what to wear while you are there, then our Après Ski Blog is for you. Sign up today and never miss another post. You won't be disappointed.
]]>Tucked away near the top of one of the Beehive State's most famous canyons lies the skier's paradise of Alta Ski Resort. Since it opened in 1938, Alta Ski Area has attracted skiers in droves. Take one look at the Alta Ski Area map and you'll instantly understand why. With 2,538 feet of vertical spread out over 2,614 skiable acres, their terrain is hard to surpass.
In addition to providing top-notch ski terrain that is arguably the best in the country, Alta receives a staggering 540 inches of snowfall annually, ensuring ample powder days. However, this isn't your average powder; Alta's powder is something else entirely. It's the type of blower pow that you usually only see in movies and can only imagine experiencing.
Turns out, dreams can come true.
The tandem of great terrain and unprecedented snow combined with Alta's proximity to Salt Lake City has given Alta legendary status within the ski world.
With legendary skiing comes legendary après ski responsibility.
Trust me, Alta Utah has it.
Alta Ski Resort, located at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon in Utah, maximizes its après ski scene despite its remote surroundings. This feat is made possible largely by the Alta lodges. These lodges boast unique features and, in particular, legendary ski bars that are on par with the exceptional skiing experience at Alta Ski resort.
Photo Credit: Alta Peruvian Bar Instagram
As you drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon, the first of the lodges in Alta that you will come across is the Alta Peruvian Lodge. The Peruvian itself opened in 1948 but, surprisingly, it is not the oldest Alta ski lodge. That distinction belongs to THE Alta Lodge. Nonetheless, this former nurses' barracks turned ski lodge certainly has seen its fair share of skiers come through over the last seven-plus decades.
If only the walls could talk, especially the walls, of their famous Alta Peruvian Bar, known affectionately to visitors as P-Dog.
The Peruvian Bar first opened its doors in 1971. Since then, it has been serving up spirits and plenty of good times. Over the years P-Dog has become a hotspot in the Alta après-ski scene and, today it is a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
To be honest it's probably not the walls at P-Dog that are talking. It is probably one of the many taxidermy animals, like the famous stuffed buffalo, that adorn it.
Photo Credit: Alta Peruvian Bar Instagram
If these animals could talk, they would tell a tale of high-spirited visitors meeting new friends and old ones while sharing stories of the incredible day at skiing at Alta. Aided by an array of local beers to choose from many will soon find themselves dancing to whatever local band P-Dog has playing Wednesday to Sunday.
Whether hanging there après ski or until late in the evening there is no question you will leave telling some stories of your own.
Photo Credit: Goldminer's Daughter Lodge Instagram
Not too far up the road from the Alta Peruvian Lodge sits the Goldminer's Daughter Lodge. Back in the 19th century, this location was home to an old mining saloon. Now it houses the lodge and Alta's famous patio bar, Slopeside Joe's
The patio of the Gold Miner's Daughter Lodge couldn't be in a more prime location for après-ski at Alta Ski Resort. Situated right next to Alta's main parking lot and only a few steps away from the Collins and Wildcat lifts, I would not blame you if you confused it as Alta's main base lodge. Nonetheless, being that close to where many skiers finish their day, you can see why a spot like this might be successful.
Photo Credit: Goldminer's Daughter Lodge Instagram
There, skiers can ski right up to the patio, unclick and have a beer in minutes. Bring your friends or make new ones as you gather with everyone else on the benches around the firepits. The conversations and good times are nonstop and it's not a matter of if but rather when you will all decide to do an "Alta Bomb" drink together.
Alta's most famous drink is only available at Slopeside Joe's. The "Alta Bomb" is a unique combination of a PBR and a shot of espresso that you drink like an "Irish Car Bomb"
It may not sound appealing. Yet somehow it is.
Drink your pint of PBR down a little, drop the shot of espresso in it, and bombs away.
Chug! Chug! Chug! If you can.
The combination in the Alta Bomb foams up like you would not believe so be prepared for face shots the like of skiing a powder day at Alta.
Last but certainly not least is The Sitzmark Club at The Alta Lodge. Having been around since 1940, it was Alta's original and, therefore oldest lodge. The Alta Lodge was later converted into a hotel and added onto. What once had only twelve rooms now has 50 and none of which have a TV in it. That said, it might be best for you to go hang out at arguably the best remaining part of the original lodge, The Sitzmark Club.
It's hard to say which way your eyes will turn when you walk into Alta's famous après ski bar. To the left, you'll be drawn by the gorgeous stone fireplace and beautiful views of the mountain.
To the right is arguably the most unique bar set up in all the high country, a pit bar situated below the primary floor of "The Sitz." Behind the bar, you are more than likely to find long-time bartender and Alta pro skier, Dan Withey.
Dan came to Alta in 1992 and after an epic winter that, according to him dumped 800" of snow, he never left. Now he has the highly unenviable task of being photographed skiing Alta pow seven days a week while running the bar on four of those days.
Dan is a true ski bum whom many come to hang with at the bar and hear stories of winters past. Others come for one of his famous Party Margaritas or a Boomerang. Made with hot apple cider, whiskey and tequila the scent will captivate your senses as it wafts through the entirety of the club.
The sweet smell of apples and cinnamon only adds to the charm of the bar. "The Sitz" is nothing short of cozy. Knotty pine walls accented by black and white photos pay homage to Alta's past. Within those walls are people relaxing on couches or around tables and taking it all in. As much as anywhere else and probably even more so, The Sitzmark Club is a place to meet people and make new friends.
It is a true throwback to the old days of skiing. More than likely, you'll find yourself sharing stories with people you hardly know and before you know it, you'll hear Dan yell, "last call." That's the beauty of The Sitz.
Whether you are surrounded by taxidermy at P-Dog, doing Alta Bombs on the patio of the Goldminer's Daughter or drinking Boomerangs at The Sitz the right après ski clothing is imperative.
Nothing is more compatible than our Après All Day Beanie (pictured above). Warm and comfortable, this ski beanie offers the versatility you'll want wherever your Alta après ski adventures take you.

]]>Après ski is as much a part of a winter vacation as skiing and snowboarding itself. There is no better way to end a day of skiing than with some frosty craft beers and tasty après ski food.
Mmmmm...can you say nachos?
Après ski originated in Europe and is rooted deeply in traditional songs, drinks and dance. However, we Americans have done a pretty good job of establishing our own après ski traditions. Whether it's the glitz and glam of Cloud 9 in Aspen or table dancing at Cuzzins with Bruce Jacques at Mount Snow everyone is bound to have a great time.
When it comes to booking east coast ski trips there is always a lot to consider. However, the question of what the top east coast ski resorts are often coincides with the best après ski resorts on the east coast. That said, I have decided to rank my favorite après ski bars region by region featuring the best après ski resorts east coast style.
It's the bar at the base...baby! Live Music, tasty food, cold beer and the option to drink on a sun-drenched deck overlooking the mountain make this an All About Après top choice
I don't always make it to Stowe but when I do, I prefer The Matterhorn. If you are looking to ski the east coast, Stowe won't let you down. "The Horn" has long been the go-to après ski bar at Stowe and is widely considered one of the best in the country thanks to its friendly atmosphere, great food and good drink.
Co-owned by professional snowboarder, Seth Wescott this location combines two of my favorites, BBQ and après ski. How could you possibly go wrong?
If you're skiing "The Beast" then you're at one of the best nightlife ski resorts on the east coast. The Wobbly Barn is Iconic après ski at its finest. Enjoy great people, great food and great fun at this legendary bar that is said to shake when the music is pumping.
Warm beer, Lousy Food, Grumpy owner...or so the sign says. Although Tom can be a little cantankerous at times he is a highly amusing personality and the beer and food are both amazing at this one-of-a-kind, divey (in a good way) après ski bar.
This is my family's favorite après ski location at Mount Snow. Why? Other than having our All Day Après signature beer on tap, it is fun for the entire family. Shuffleboard, darts, pool, and board and card games for days keep the kids engage while parents enjoy our crushable Pale Ale. Beyond that, Snow Republic has some of the best food in the Deerfield Valley to replenish your stores from a long day on the mountain.
You can't really go wrong with too many places at Tremblant, but we love La Diable. A microbrewery located at the foot of the slopes, their beers are top shelf and a great compliment to their affordable and tasty food.
A microbrewery with 20+ years of brewing experience and a signature beer called Frosty Goggles is enough to make the Woodstock Inn awesome, but there's more. The food is really good and they also happen to be an inn. So you can eat and drink to your heart's content with only a short commute to your room to worry about.
While many who travel to the Adirondacks make their way to the more popular Whiteface Mountain, less popular Gore Mountain remains insulated from all the traffic. But don't underestimate this less-populated mountain. Gore's terrain will definitely impress you and Beck's Tavern is simply some of the best après ski on the east coast.
A short drive from the mountain and you are greeted by this amazing German tavern. The main building is stunning and worth popping into but the yurts are where it's at. Hopefully, Big Mike is still serving up drinks and holding court behind the bar. He's quite the character. So unbuckle those boots and stay a while as your children enjoy the many games they have to play and you sip cold beer and chow down on some German brats.
There is no shortage of après ski bars in the best ski town on the East coast. Throw a stone and you'll hit one. However, Finnerty's stands out for its lively après ski crowd and Irish Pub meets sports bar atmosphere. With plenty of taps to choose from, there is no shortage of beer to pair with their creative Irish pub fare. And, if the Bills are playing, you are in for a treat. Finnerty's is home to the local chapter of the Bills Mafia and well...you know how that goes.
The best après ski on the east coast deserves the best après ski clothes. When transitioning from the mountain to the bar, you'll want something sporty and stylish. Our Men's and Women's 1/2 Zip Performance Pullover fits the bill. In fact, one of our patrons referred to it as the best pullover she's ever worn. Now that's saying something, considering she grew up skiing Alta. When performance meets style like this, you simply cannot go wrong.

]]>Killington Ski Resort in Vermont is renowned on the East coast skiing scene and has earned the nickname "The Beast". It's not hard to see why; with six peaks, challenging terrain, and the region's lengthiest skiing season, it's a mecca for skiers and snowboarders from all over. The allure of Killington, Vt can be attributed to its proximity to major cities like Boston and New York, making it the ultimate skiing destination for those seeking the biggest and best skiing experience.
Although skiing is one of Killington's prime attractions, the resort has more to offer and for good reason. The five-mile access road is dotted with well-known restaurants and bars, providing an unbeatable après-ski experience to complement the skiing. Whether you need a few drinks and a bite to eat, or you're in the mood to party all night, Killington has so much to offer. Join me now, as we travel down the Killington access road to discover the top après-ski destinations at this amazing resort.
Photo Credit: Killington Distillery Instagram @stillonthemtn
The name says it all here. Not only are you still on the mountain but this also happens to be Killington's only distillery. Situated right at the base of Killington Ski Resort, it is hard to beat the location making this your first stop on your trek down the Killington access road.
A relative newcomer to the Killington après-ski scene, Killington Distillery distills all their own spirits including Bourbon, Vodka, Gin, Tequila and Rum. They then use their spirits to stir up their many creative craft cocktails like the Maple Old Fashioned we made on episode 21 of the Beyond the Après Podcast.
Pair this cocktail or any others with a delicious dish or two from their creative farm-to-table menu. And the best part is that if you happen to get a little too tipsy to leave, they even have their Mountain Inn on-site for you to spend the night.
Photo Credit: Lookout Tavern Instagram @lookoutkillington
The building that houses the Lookout Tavern has some serious history. It was Killington Ski Resort's first lodge back when it opened in 1958. Now it is family-owned and operated and has been a Killington après-ski institution since 2000.
Looking to create a burger and beer joint in a building that had 13 different Killington restaurants and bars fail, owners Phil and Joy Black wanted to keep it simple. In their efforts to create a great place for a burger and a beer, their strategy was simple. Great people, delicious food, cold drinks and a friendly welcoming atmosphere are the key ingredients to The Lookout's success.
Their U-shaped bar is optimal for hanging with friends while making new ones. Order up a beer and a plate of their wings. They are some of the best that you'll find in any of the Killington access road restaurants.
When it comes to Killington après ski, you could argue that no restaurant or bar is more legendary than The Wobbly Barn. It first opened its doors back in 1963 and has been a staple in the Killington après-ski scene ever since.
Man if these walls could talk. The stories they could tell.
The Wobbly Barn makes perennial appearances on best après-ski bar lists nationwide and with good reason. As a steakhouse (an often forgotten component to their success) they offer incredible food for anyone looking to enjoy a great dinner. However, where the Wobbly Barn really excels is in its nightlife.
With live music throughout the weekend, you and your friends will find it easy to drink and dance the night away like the many patrons who have come before you.
Photo Credit: Pickle Barrel Instagram @picklebarrelnightclub
If The Wobbly Barn is 1, then The Pickle Barrel is 1A when it comes to Killington nightlife. Centrally located on the Killington Access road, The Pickle Barrel (or at least the building) has been around since the 1960's. At that time it was known as the Sugar Shack and was a dance hall for skiers to congregate at the end of the day. Since that time, The Pickle Barrel has evolved into one of the Northeast's premier concert venues.
The Pickle Barrel boasts three levels of entertainment spaces, four bars, dance floors and multiple stages. Over the decades, it has been dubbed The House that Rocks Killington and has hosted major music artists such as Snoop Dogg, The Roots, Gin Blossoms and more.
When it comes to seeing live music, whether they are an established performer or a budding star, The Pickle Barrel is one of Killington's most exciting places for après ski.
Photo Credit: Jax Food and Games Instagram @jaxkillingtonvt
If you are at the Pickle Barrel, you won't have too far to get to Jax Food and Games. It's right next door. Open seven days a week, this is a highly popular place for locals and visitors alike.
Being toward the base of the access road, Jax Food and Games is an excellent place to make your last stop coming off the mountain or your first on your trip up for the weekend. Order from an array of local beers to help take the edge off then play one of the arcade games. They also have live music, usually on the weekends, and feature many fun local acts.
The food there is eclectic and tasty. Jax proclaims to have the best grilled cheese in Killington. Featuring caramelized onions and apples it is to die for. And don't worry if you get some of those onions on your shirt, you can always walk downstairs to Killington's only laundromat "Scrub-a-Dub Pub and wash it.
Photo Credit: Casey's Caboose Instagram @caseyscaboose
Growing up, Casey's Caboose was always one of my favorite places to visit. Housed inside an early 1900 railroad snowplow car it is one of the most unique Killington restaurants and bars there is. It's also fun for the whole family.
The atmosphere at Casey's Caboose is super cool. If you are lucky, you'll get to dine inside the observation deck on the plow car or maybe even the caboose itself. However, the wait or reservations for those seats are tough to come by but worth it.
No matter where you dine inside, you really cannot go wrong if ordering from the burger menu. It's extensive and DAMN those burgers are good. Many are equally as unique as the location itself. Shifting away from the burger menu, Casey's Caboose is also known for its seafood. This is kind of odd given Vermont isn't a coastal state but somehow Casey's Caboose consistently delivers on fresh seafood and they make it work.
Overall, if you are looking for a Killington access road restaurant that the whole family can enjoy, Casey's Caboose is always a solid choice.
Photo Credit: Sushi Yoshi Instagram @sushiyoshikillington
Free wings at après ski, Killington's only Vermont craft beer garden and sushi...sign me up! It's not often that a Chinese & Japanese Hibachi comes up on a "best of" après-ski list but Sushi Yoshi is definitely deserving.
If you are from a major city, the sushi is good but may not be up to your standards. However, the hibachi is fun and entertaining, tasty and what you'd expect.
Let's be real though, you're there because they have 20 taps. Yes, that's right, 20 taps flowing with some of the best Vermont craft beer and even a few good ones from the surrounding areas. Sushi Yoshi also runs après-ski specials, like free wings which when combined with a tasty beer or three from their menu makes a stop there totally worth it.
Coming off the mountain and taking a ride down to hit the many Killington Access Road restaurants requires the perfect après-ski clothing. There's no better choice than one of our comfortable ski hoodies. Our Raised on Apres Ski Hoodie is a solid choice for the occasion. Let everyone know that you have been doing this for years while you stay warm and comfortable every step of the way.

Breckenridge ski resort needs no introduction. The mountain and the accompanying town is well known for being one of the top destinations for skiers and snowboarders in the country. With five separate peaks, its layout is massive. Like the vast ocean, it fills your sightline from one side to the other. Size like this matters, all but guaranteeing that skiers and riders of all abilities will have very little difficulty finding terrain that will pique their interest.
However, the skiing and snowboarding at Breckenridge ski resort are only half of the equation. Breckenridge is also a hotspot for après ski, especially in the village. What was once a center for the gold rush is now home to some of the best après-ski in Breckenridge.
Nostalgia-centered après ski like what you will find in Breckenridge is sure to captivate the mind. Combine it with the excellent skiing at the resort and it is easy to see why this town has become so popular. Visitors come for the skiing and they hang out for the après.
There is no shortage of options to choose from when it comes to the best bars in Breckenridge. So much so that it is best to divide your choices into two categories: on the mountain and in the town. Whether it's a raging party, brews with a view or a family-friendly restaurant, here is our guide to the best après ski in Breckenridge.
T Bar is one of the on-mountain après ski spots of choice on Peak 8. Located at the base of Peak 8, only steps from the free Breck Connect town gondola, T Bar is an ideal stop when your day on the mountain ends and before your nightlife in town begins. The apps there are delicious and meant to be shared with friends. Order a few and wash them down with one of the many craft beers on the menu as you take in the views from T Bar's expansive deck.
The Maggie is unique in the sense that it is one of the few places on the mountain where you can grab breakfast as well as hang out après ski. Be sure to get a few epic runs in, between your morning and afternoon visits though. Then you'll be ready when you come back you can bask in the sun on their vast deck and listen to the live music they'll have all weekend long.
Located at the base of Peak 7 inside the Grand Lodge, Sevens is a full-service, sit-down-only restaurant. This makes it an excellent choice for families and large groups looking to kick back and relax after a day of shredding. Like the other two bars above, Sevens restaurant has an expansive deck that offers excellent mountain views. Take it all in while you enjoy some of the tasty pizzas and sandwiches they are known for.
Head down the popular Beaver Run and upstairs to one of the most hopping après ski bars in Breckenridge. With live music four nights a week, Coppertop is always a good time. Add in great food like their chili, spectacular views and daily drink specials and you simply cannot go wrong.

Ski shop by day, après ski bar by night RMU started as a couple of guys making and selling skis for 30 packs. Now they are a super fun après-ski bar on Main St. in Breckenridge. The RMU Breckenridge menu also happens to serve as a grilled cheeserie. Yes, such a dream exists! Order one of their artisan grilled cheeses and a beer and hang for hours in their awesome backyard beer garden.
Photo Credit: Mi Casa Mexican Cantina Instagram
With happy hour every day from 3-6 Mi Casa in Breckenridge, Co has long been a favorite amongst locals and visitors alike. Mi Casa is just the way I like it, slightly divey. They also shake up a killer Margarita made with your choice of one of the 100 + tequilas they have on the menu. That's a lot of Tequila...might as well stay a while.
Photo Credit: Après Handcrafted Libations Instagram
I would be remiss if I left a place called Après off a list of the best après ski bars in Breckenridge. With 70 rotating craft beers over 100 craft whiskies and spirits to choose from you can see how a place like this might be a good way to end your ski day. However, beer and spirits are only the beginning. As their name would suggest, Après Handcrafted Libations offers a variety of creative cocktails that you are sure to enjoy while there.
Sound like the basement at your buddy's house? Well, it kind of is. With 25 arcade games and an excellent kids' menu Downstairs at Eric's is the best après ski bar in Breckenridge for families. While the kids play, so too do the parents. With 30 beers on tap and 30+ flat-screen TVs on the wall, there is fun to be had by all.
Photo Credit: Breckenridge Brew Pub Instagram
Being a huge fan of breweries it may seem obvious that at least one of the two that are in town appears on this list of the best après-ski bars in Breckenridge. Breckenridge Brewery is the town's original brewpub and has been serving up après skiers since 1990. There you can order from their wide variety of craft beers and eclectic food menu while you take in the scenic mountain views right from the dining room or patio.
When it comes to bouncing from one après ski bar in Breckenridge to another, you are going to want the best après ski clothing. That's where our Après Ski Hoodie comes into play. All Photos Credited to High West Distillery
If you are looking at lists of the best après ski Park City, no matter what publication you are reading, chances are it is going to include High West Distillery. Located in Park City, Utah near the bottom of the town lift, High West is the first stop in coming off of Park City Mountain Resort. They distill a variety of fine whiskeys such as Double Rye, Campfire and American Prairie Reserve and also happen to be a James Beard award-winning restaurant with an incredible atmosphere. When combined, this makes High West Distillery the world's only ski-in gastro-distillery and a one-of-a-kind location for the best après ski in Park City.
High West Distillery is located in the historic section of Park City, just off Main Street. Situated right next to the town lift and at the base of Park City Mountain Resort's "Quittin' Time" trail, it is in a prime location for Park City après ski. All a skier or snowboarder has to do is schuss their way down "Quittin' Time" and they'll find themselves sliding right into this fine establishment.
Once you're at the base of the trail, you can't miss it. High West Distillery sits inside two Victorian-era buildings, a house and a livery stable. Both buildings were originally built in 1914 and offer a glimpse into Park City's mining past. They also happen to make for quite a unique atmosphere for après ski in Park City.
At one time, these buildings housed the actual High West Distillery. However, due to the growth of the High West Whiskey brand, they have moved that operation to a much larger facility in Wanship, Utah. Nonetheless, they still offer tours of the old distillery which is still used to distill small-batch experimental whiskeys.
Today, High West Distillery is a rustic showroom and one of the best après ski bars in Park City. Walk in the door and you are instantly transported back in time. The old wood architecture and wild west culture will have your head on a swivel. From the general store to the old bottles on the wall and the country bluegrass music, it gives you a glimpse of a bygone era.
However, High West Distillery is more than just a pretty face. Despite its old-time looks High West Distillery is well-versed in the modern culinary scene.
High West Distillery in Park City offers up a large variety of tasty après ski food So tasty, in fact, they were nominated for a James Beard Award and have cooked at the James Beard House in NYC on a couple of occasions.
Dining there will certainly be worth your while. Many of the dishes on the High West Distillery Park City menu often include their amazing whiskey in the recipes. For example, their pretzel and beer cheese is a delicious dish served with a cheese dip that is made from a combination of beer and their whiskey. Their wings, arguably the best that I've ever had, are served with an American Prairie Bourbon honey sauce that is to die for.
Need a little more?
You can't possibly go wrong with the High West Burger and a side of Mac and Cheese. The Bison and Beef blend burger is favorite of locals and visitors alike. Topped with a delectable combination of two cheeses, glazed sweet onions and crispy fried shallots it's mouthwateringly good. So too is the Mac and Cheese. Topped with a pork rind crust it is so next level, it's to die for.
With all of this amazing food, you'll need a drink or two to wash it down. If you've never had High West Distillery's award winning whiskey before, I recommend ordering up a flight. Doing so will serve a dual purpose. It will, not only, warm you up from your day of skiing and Park City Ski Resort or Deer Valley Resort but also give you a taste of their core four whiskeys.
There are also many creative cocktails on the High West Distillery Park City menu. Their cocktails are something that we spoke at length about when we had their Head Beverage Director Steve Walton on the Beyond the Après podcast.
You can never go wrong with any of them, particularly the High West Old Fashioned. However, if you are looking for a craft cocktail that is unique, Dead Man's Boots is quite a crowd pleaser. Dead Man's Boots is the most popular cocktail at High West Distillery for a reason. Made with the unlikely combination of their Double Rye with tequila along with lime juice and ginger beer the cocktail is a very welcome surprise to your taste buds.
Be forewarned though. Dead Man's Boots is no sissy drink. It will either prime you up for a good night or put your ass to bed with your ski boots still on.
High West Distillery has always been one of my favorite places for après ski in Park City Utah. The location next to the Quittin' Time trail and right next to the Park City town lift is prime. It gives you easy access to their amazing facility right from the slopes of Park City Mountain Resort. Once there, bask in the Old West ambiance while dining on their James Beard-nominated food and award-winning whiskey. With a triple threat like this, there is no wonder why many consider High West Distillery the best après ski in Park City.
When you come off the slopes and walk into the saloon, you'll want to be wearing the right après ski clothing. Our Après Ski Fleece Sweatshirt is an excellent choice. All eyes will surely be on your when you ditch your ski jacket and roll up to the bar in this classy crewneck.

Skiing/snowboarding and golf may seem like completely different sports, and they are. They are even played in two completely different seasons with the exception of those die-hard golfers who like to go out and play a round in their down jacket mid-winter. That said, they do have one major thing in common with each other. The ideas of unwinding and relaxing post-activity are shared by both through the concepts of après-ski and the 19th hole.
On the surface, après-ski and the 19th hole represent the social activities for two contrasting sports. However, they share the common idea of unwinding and relaxing after a day of activity. Après-ski is a term that describes the array of social activities and entertainment that take place after a day of skiing or snowboarding, while the 19th hole is a term used in golf to describe the bar or clubhouse where golfers gather after completing a round.
For the most part, the two activities traditionally take place in different seasons and can rarely be combined. But, it is not impossible to enjoy both at once. You just need to find the perfect location, and that place is Bend, Oregon. There, the nearby mountain of Mt. Bachelor remains open and covered in snow and golf courses have already opened for the season. This ultimately provides the perfect opportunity to indulge in both après-ski and the 19th hole in one picturesque and serene setting.
Tetherow Resort offers a unique experience where guests can simultaneously enjoy breathtaking views, a warm and inviting atmosphere, and exciting recreational activities. The resort boasts panoramic views of both the golf course and the surrounding area, which capture the magnificent peak of Mount Bachelor off in the distance. Spanning across its beautiful grounds, Tetherow Resort invites visitors to be immersed in the serene surroundings and savor the view.
This idyllic setting is one of a kind but what truly sets the resort apart is the opportunity to blend two contrasting yet equally enjoyable activities in one day. With Mt. Bachelor operating through Memorial Day weekend this season, guests can hit the slopes in the morning and enjoy skiing or snowboarding before seamlessly transitioning into an afternoon filled with golfing at Tetherow.
Tetherow golf course designed by local Bend resident David Kidd, has garnered a sterling reputation of excellence in golfing circles, earning plaudits such as being named The 15 Best Golf Courses in Oregon by Golf Magazine. The course, inspired by the Scottish Highlands, recently celebrated 15 years of operation since opening for the season on April 9th.
These accolades are well earned as Tetherow golf course can prove to be a formidable challenge, even for seasoned golfers. Its faded fescue fairways, hidden bunkers, firm-and-fast playing conditions, and dramatic elevation changes are sure to humble even the best players.
This ultimately makes a post-activity break at The Row that much more important. There, visitors who delight in both skiing and golfing will enjoy the resort's distinctive combination of après-ski and the 19th hole as a much-needed reinvigoration from their full day on the slopes and the links.
After an active day filled with adventure, guests can wind down with friends in The Row's memorable atmosphere while indulging in a delectable range of dishes that cater to every palate. From hearty starters to flavorful entrees, and everything in between - including soups and salads - there is truly something for everyone on the menu. As guests savor their meals, they can reflect on the thrill of the day's activities, reminisce on adventures shared, and create new memories with loved ones in the warm and inviting space of The Row.
Whether you're looking to share some delicious appetizers with your group or just need to refuel after an audacious day of skiing and golfing, The Row at Tetherow Resort has got you covered. One dish you simply cannot miss out on are their mouthwatering deviled eggs. These delectable eggs offer a perfect balance of creaminess and spices that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. With its garnish of paprika and chives, this dish not only promises to be delicious but visually appealing as well.
Equally sensational are the Pub Wings, with perfectly cooked chicken and a one-of-a-kind sauce that offers the perfect blend of hot and sweet flavors, leaving your taste buds buzzing with excitement. Whether you crave spicy food or prefer milder flavors, these wings are sure to satisfy every palate. The eggs and the wings make for an ideal appetizer that sets the tone for a truly memorable meal at The Row.
When it comes to dinner, the Truffle Marrow Burger is a standout option. Featuring a juicy and flavorful patty topped with bone marrow butter, fresh horseradish, IPAioli, caramelized onions, white cheddar, and crispy prosciutto. The burger comes served on a delicious brioche bun and is accompanied by a generous helping of fries, making it an absolute must-try for anyone who visits this establishment.
If you're looking for the meat of a burger but not the carbs of the bun and fries, definitely give the very popular Hamburger Salad a try. The Hamburger Salad at The Row Tetherow resort features a tender beef patty, crispy bacon, tomatoes, avocados, onions, and lettuce, all served over a bed of greens. The salad is then topped with a tangy vinaigrette dressing, making for a tasty and satisfying meal that is a bit on the lighter side.
Whether you're seeking a hearty burger on a bun or bed of greens or just some tasty snacks to share with the group, The Row has got you covered with mouth-watering meals sure to enhance your après ski 19th Hole experience. However, the good times do not end with the food.
At The Row, the dining experience goes beyond the food, offering a variety of well-crafted cocktails, beer, and wine options to suit every taste. For anyone seeking the ultimate Bend experience, Boneyard Brewing's RPM IPA is a quintessential choice that never fails to impress. In fact, it is widely viewed as one of the best beers in the Pacific Northwest.
Upon taking a sip, you'll immediately notice its slightly sweet maltiness that is perfectly balanced by the unique composition of five Pacific Northwest hops. The beer has a well-rounded flavor with a strong but not overwhelming bitterness, and a pleasant finish that leaves a soft hoppy aftertaste on the tongue.
As someone who appreciates a good IPA, I would absolutely recommend RPM IPA by Boneyard Brewing to anyone who loves hoppy beers. Its smooth drinkability and the well-rounded flavor had me drinking copious amounts of this beer while on my trip there and it is hands down one of the best beers, I've had in the past year.
Great beer is not all that is on The Row's drink menus. Don't overlook the creative craft cocktails they are stirring up. When it comes to cocktails, The Row's take on an Aperol Spritz is a guest favorite and always a refreshing choice. Whether you're in the mood for craft beer, a delicious wine, or a creative cocktail, The Row has something for everyone, making it an ideal spot for a memorable night out.

If not, now is your opportunity. Stoke & Rye at The Westin Riverfront is very excited to be showcasing Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey by offering the new Stranahan’s Après Ski Lounge, an immersive dining & drinking experience in a private life-sized whiskey barrel.

Stoke and Rye, the popular restaurant inside the award-winning Westin Riverfront Beaver Creek, will kick off this new immersive whiskey experience on Friday, March 17 just in time for St. Patrick's Day. From then until Sunday, April 2nd, guests can check après ski in a whiskey barrel off their bucket (or barrel) list.
Stranahan's Whiskey was founded by George Stranahan and Jess Graber in 2004. Interestingly enough, at that time it was the first legal distillery in the state of Colorado since Prohibition ended. Now they are at the forefront of Colorado's growing distillery scene and one of America's leading American Single Malt whiskey.
Similarly, Chef Richard Sandoval's Stoke and Rye is equally popular in the state of Colorado. Located inside the Vail Valley’s award-winning Westin Riverfront Beaver Creek it draws in visitors from all over to taste their creative, yet approachable take on classic American cuisine.
Now, these two great Colorado institutions are joining forces to bring patrons arguably the most unique après ski experience out there.

The Stranahan’s whiskey barrels will be available daily during this period for après ski from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. on the Stoke & Rye patio.
Once inside these heated behemoths, visitors will have two Stranahan’s tasting experiences to choose from. Each - featured below - is paired with a special menu created by the culinary team at Stoke & Rye.
Blue Peak Experience - $90 per person
Black Diamond Experience - $110 per person

The only way you can go wrong is if you forget to make reservations for your party of four and can't get in. So if you have always wanted to après ski in a life-size whiskey barrel (or even if you haven't) the Stranahan’s Après Ski Lounge is your chance.
What does one wear when going to après ski in a whiskey barrel? Can't say I can answer that honestly as I've never experienced it for myself. However, our 1/2 Zip Performance Pullover in men's and women's should work quite nicely. If you're coming right from the slopes to the patio, it's the perfect combination of class and comfort that will have people turning heads as you enter these life-sized whiskey barrels.

]]>I get it.
I've long been a fan of the many ski resorts that the Green Mountain State has to offer. However, being in the ski media and trying to cover as much territory as possible to bring you coverage of the best that après ski has to offer, I have really tried to branch out over the last decade. So instead of always heading north to Vermont, I have recently found there to be great skiing and, of course, après ski if I drive west from my home base in NJ.
No, I'm not talking about taking a car ride to Colorado or Utah. I'm talking about heading beyond the Poconos to western Pennsylvania. In recent years I've grown to love western New York's Holiday Valley Ski Resort and the town of Ellicottville. It's simply one of the best places to ski here on the east coast.
This year, however, with Vail Resorts' acquisition of Seven Springs Mountain Resort, we decided to mix it up. So instead of cutting north from Pa into NY state we stayed the course and made our way to Seven Springs Ski Resort to see what it and its legendary après ski bar The Foggy Goggle had to offer.
Photo Credit: Seven Springs Mountain Resort
Seven Springs Ski Resort in Pennsylvania has long been a favorite for visitors from major metropolitan markets such as Washington DC, Pittsburgh and Cleveland. New York City, not so much. However, now that it is on the Epic Pass, this may all change and with good reason.
Seven Springs Ski Resort is Pennsylvania's largest ski resort and in more normal winters averages over 150" of snow. That's a snow total that you would be more accustomed to seeing in Vermont. For example, Mount Snow's average snowfall according to On The Snow is 131" per year. Why does Seven Springs get so much snow? It is fortunate enough to be located in an area that can capitalize on the beauty of lake-effect snow and this leads to regularly good winter conditions.
When Seven Springs Ski Resort has good snow the mountain is quite fun. Sure Seven Springs Ski Resort only offers up to 750 feet of vertical, but what you sacrifice in vertical you will gain in runs completed. 20-30 runs in a day are easily the norm if you are pushing yourself. Run totals like this can stack up your daily vert en masse and really make have you earning your après. Good thing for you the Foggy Goggle is ready and waiting to provide you with the après ski sustenance and fun you are looking for.
If you haven't heard of the Foggy Goggle at Seven Springs Ski Resort, you must get out more. Consistently rated as one of the top après ski bars in the East, the Foggy Goggle has earned its legendary status for a variety of reasons that include these five.
Photo Credit: Seven Springs Mountain Resort
Walk out of the Seven Springs Main Lodge and you are instantly greeted by a sign that says "Foggy Brews." Ski down the front of the mountain under the Polar Bear of Cortina lift and you simply Cannot miss it. The Foggy Goggle is omnipresent at Seven Springs Ski Resort thanks to its prime location in the base area.
A location as prominent as theirs makes the Foggy Goggle quite an attraction. On warm-ish days (and even on colder ones) the deck is an awesome spot to have a few brews with friends while basking in the sun. Like the overall bar itself, the deck is a good size and can really accommodate quite a crowd.
Inside, the Foggy Goggle is even more massive, the majority of which is surrounded by windows that offer excellent views of the front of the mountain. This is obviously a nice touch for aesthetic reasons, but for parents looking to hang at après it provides another key advantage. With kids in the tweener age who are adventurous and want to go out on the mountain on their own, parents can allow them to do so while keeping a watchful eye from inside.
Time after time, my crew and I watched from the window as our group of kids snaked their way down the mountain in their bright-colored jackets and hopped back on either of the two aforementioned lifts. Being able to do so is a nice touch (intended or not) that makes The Foggy Goggle pretty awesome in my book.
Photo Credit: Seven Springs Mountain Resort
As previously mentioned, The Foggy Goggle is massive. So massive, that it includes multiple bars, a stage, a dance floor and even an area with axe-throwing lanes. I'll dive into a few more of these items later but for now let's start with the first one, multiple bars.
A bar as iconic as The Foggy Goggle can get pretty packed, especially during the high point of the ski season. The sheer size of the place helps disperse the après skiers throughout and can make it feel a lot less crowded than it is. However, even if it doesn't look like it, the people are still there and they will need a place to order their favorite après ski beverage.
One thing about being as big as The Foggy Goggle is that it can not only accommodate a lot of people but also have a lot of bars in it. Four to be exact and these are not little rinky dink portable ones. They are four legit bars with multiple access points to order your food and drinks. Combine this with the massive amount of servers they have waiting tables and you will very rarely, be waiting to get served.
Photo Credit: Seven Springs Mountain Resort
Yes, you read that right. The Foggy Goggle has an axe-throwing house within the bar. Now you may think that the idea of drinking a few beers and hurling sharp metal objects at a target after a day of skiing isn't a great idea, but it actually is. I assure you it is safe, it's an excellent way to wind down and a whole lot of fun.
The eight lanes of the Foggy Goggle Axe House are in a completely separate area of the bar and away from the major crowds. Each lane can accommodate a party of up to six and reservations are recommended. Otherwise you are subject to first come first serve.
I'd understand completely if you didn't want to drink while throwing. However, if you are looking to improve your aim a bit, alcohol can be purchased at any one of the aforementioned bars. Drinks or not, the Foggy Goggle Axe House is something I've never seen before in an après ski bar and a unique and fun way to unwind after skiing.
Photo Credit: Seven Springs Mountain Resort
There is nothing like a good old après ski dance party - bonus points if your ski boots are still on - and the Foggy Goggle offers one up every weekend.
Complete with a dance floor and a stage, that area of the Foggy Goggle is centrally located and the place to be. It tends to get a bit more crowded than the other areas of the bar and the crew is young and lively. Just ask the massive dude I met in the University of Alabama sleeveless t-shirt, Roll Tide. Nonetheless, this area is where much of the action takes place and is prime for a good dance party.
On weekends, there is usually a DJ or a band in the mid-afternoon for the après crowd and then another in the evening for those looking to party all night (they are open until 2 am). If you're staying at the resort, you can quite literally dance the night away.
Multiple bars, axe throwing, dance parties 'til 2 am...that does not sound very family friendly but, trust me, there are plenty of families at The Foggy Goggle. As mentioned earlier, the place is massive. Therefore you can avoid the axe-throwing area and the crowds with ease. Simply head towards the back of the Foggy Goggle, closer to the Main Lodge entrance. There you will find more open space and the table service that a family requires.
While there with the fam, I suggest ordering some food. The pretzels are always a big hit with the kiddos and excellent if they are looking to share. The wide assortment of wings is also a solid choice with the dry rub variation being our favorite. However, if you are really looking to take your food ordering to another level you must get the whole order of nachos (they come in whole or half).
Photo Credit: Seven Springs Mountain Resort
Buyer beware, your group better bring a massive appetite because these are the largest I've ever seen. The tray is legitimately the size of a manhole cover and the chips are loaded with toppings. This ultimately makes their nachos a delicious option for large groups and a total head-turner as the server walks them over to your table.
If you are headed to The Foggy Goggle at Seven Springs Ski Resort in Pennsylvania you must be sure to pack the proper après ski attire. Doing so is mandatory for a place as legendary as this. Therefore, there is no better option than our Certified Après Ski Instructor T-Shirt.
Manhole size plates of nachos, axe throwing, and all-night dance parties until 2 am...if you can survive all of that in one day, then you certainly fit the criteria for a certified après ski instructor and should wear this one with pride.

]]>Right down the road from its popular neighbor, Vail, Beaver Creek Resort is often less crowded and offers an atmosphere that is a bit more family-friendly. Resort employees hand out freshly baked cookies on a silver platter daily. The delicious cookies are welcomed by all and are a nice end-of-the-day complement to skiing the mostly beginner and intermediate terrain in the Arrowhead and Bachelor Gulch areas of the resort. Meanwhile, as children nosh on cookies, adults who prefer advanced terrain can earn their après shredding some seriously steep and challenging trails off the Birds of Prey and Grouse lifts.
No matter what area of Beaver Creek Resort you decide to ski, you'll find that, by the end of the day, your body will be craving some much-needed post-ski sustenance. The après ski at Beaver Creek is a bit more laid back than at other resorts. In fact, in many ways, it mirrors the overall feel of the resort. That is to say that après ski at Beaver Creek has plenty to offer everyone. From fancy fireside cocktails to happy hours that won't break the bank and everything in between here are 5 of the best bars for après ski in Beaver Creek Colorado.
Photo Credit: Coyote Cafe Instagram @coyotecafe
Located in the main village right at the base of a pair of those aforementioned escalators sits one of my favorite Beaver Creek après ski bars, the Coyote Cafe. Don't take my word for it though, Coyote Cafe has also been a local favorite since it opened in the early 1980s.
The Coyote is as close to a dive bar as you are going to get at Beaver Creek Resort, but it's still not really that divey. What it is, however, is a fun bar with a lively atmosphere. Whether outside hanging on the patio or inside holding court at the bar, you'll be rubbing elbows with the locals. The Coyote Cafe is particularly popular with the ski patrol, as they get off of work and head over seeking the Coyote's tasty Mexican food and daily draft specials that won't break the bank.
Photo Credit: Dusty Boot Saloon Instagram @dustybootbeavercreek
The Dusty Boot Saloon is arguably the 1A to Coyote Cafe in the Beaver Creek dive bar scene. Once again though, The Dusty Boot is far from divey and there is no sign of dust, except in the name. There's not even any artisanal dust that they strategically sprinkled throughout the bar for aesthetic purposes. But...I digress.
Dusty or not, the Dusty Boot Saloon is one of my favorite Beaver Creek après ski bars if for no other reason than their 47 oz. Margaritas. Yes! That's a damn big Marg and a damn tasty one too. Oh, how the stories will flow once you get a couple of them in you. I suggest soaking up a little of that alcohol with an order of The Buffalo Chicken Ranch Loaded Tots and The Boot Burger. It's everything you would want from ski food and then some.
Photo Credit: The Met Ktichen Beaver Creek Instagram
The Met Kitchen in Beaver Creek is one of the resort's newer après ski hot spots. Located in the heart of Beaver Creek Village it offers patrons staying in the village another great option that doesn't require any transportation.
Their open-space dining room bar area provides a welcoming atmosphere that draws you in while the food and drink will keep you there. Order from a variety of highly affordable menu items that include pizzas, salads and sandwiches. Then wash it all down with one of their reasonably priced specialty cocktails or a local craft beer.
If you're traveling with your family and looking for a solid place to après ski that won't drain your wallet, then the Met Kitchen in Beaver Creek is an excellent choice. They even have Dino Nuggets for the kids! Now that's pretty unheard of.
Photo Credit: The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch Instagram @theritzcarltonbachelorgulch
As you head down Grunder's right below the Bachelor Gulch Lift, there in the distance you will see the opulent Ritz Carlton and its Fireside Bar. Conveniently located on the Ritz Mountain Terrace mere steps from the base, you can unclick from your skis or snowboard and be sipping cocktails by the fire in minutes. If après ski with live music in an outdoor environment is your thing then the Fireside Bar is for you.
Photo Credit: The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch Instagram @theritzcarltonbachelorgulch
All Ritz Carlton locations are known for their Bloody Marys and each one has the creative license to stir up its very own version. Therefore you must, must, must order a Bloody Mary when you are there. Garnished with bacon, a lobster claw, shrimp and more, it's like a meal in a glass. Pair this surf and turf bloody delight with the excellent views of Beaver Creek and you'll find that you may never want to leave.
Photo Credit: The Charter Instagram @thecharterbeavercreek
Located in The Charter which has ski-in access and is within walking distance from Beaver Creek Village, the Black Diamond Bistro is an excellent option to end your day. The bar there is beautiful and so to are the views it affords of Beaver Creek. Grab yourself one of their signature cocktails and take it all in as you warm yourself by their large stone fireplace after a day of skiing.
Black Diamond Bistro also has an excellent selection of Colorado craft beer to choose from and food that ranges from small plates to Salmon. Either way, you'll want to take advantage of their après ski specials. Running from 3-5 daily Black Diamond Bistro offers $9 small plates, $8 well drinks and $5 draft to all who visit.
Located a little bit away from Beaver Creek with its very own gondola to get you to the mountain is the Westin Riverfront hotel. Inside the lobby, you will find The Lookout Bar, appropriately named for the spectacular views it offers of the mountain. The Lookout is an excellent choice for après ski at Beaver Creek whether you are staying at the Westin or not.
The crowd is sort of a unique mix and offers great people-watching to complement the epic views of the mountain. On one hand, there are a select group of people who don't actually ski and just get dressed to hang out at the lodge bar. While on the other, there are families who have come back and are looking to grab a drink and a small bite before settling in or heading back out for dinner. Either way, The Lookout is a rather fun scene complete with live music and creative cocktails that is definitely worth paying a visit.
Beaver Creek Resort is known for being family-friendly and there is nothing more family-friendly than a happy ending. Our Happily Ever Après Ski Sweatshirt and/or ski hoodie says it all. No matter who you spend the end of your day with, as long as you are all together sharing good times then your ski day is certain to end happily ever après.

]]>Now, having been taken over by Vail Resorts in 2018, this is all starting to change. Yes, Lake Sunapee still dominates the summer scene and comparatively, the Mount Sunapee ski area still has fewer winter visits than Okemo and Crested Butte. However, there has certainly been an uptick in winter travel to the area in recent years courtesy of being on the Epic pass.
With that said, I recently decided to take my first ski trip to New Hampshire and check out Mount Sunapee Ski Resort for myself. In doing so, I found the mountain to be very well-run and a lot of fun (despite the lack of snow at the time). Then when the trails got a little skied off and the time came to celebrate the day we, of course, found the three best places to après ski at Mount Sunapee.
I've been to a few mountains like Deer Valley and A-Basin that have areas they designate as "The Beach" and Mount Sunapee's certainly stacks up. It may not have the panache of Deer Valley's or the ostentatiousness of A-Basin's but it is a fun vibrant scene all unto its own. Located right along the first row of parking spaces and the Mount Sunapee skiing trail called "Flyway" it is the place to be if you are looking to tailgate at après ski.
If you want a spot, you'll need to get there early (roughly 6 am) because those parking spots go quickly. This is especially true when the weather gets warm and visitors are looking to hang out a bit longer at the mountain. Vehicles are backed right in and tailgates are set up on the snow. Some are even quite extensive and designed to accommodate an all-day affair that includes the three staple meals breakfast, lunch and après.
As the day winds down, the après ski tailgate really gets going. The smell of the food wafts through the mountain air becoming even more pungent as you descend the trails and get closer. Once there, take it all in. People will wander from tailgate to tailgate sharing beers, food and of course stories of their epic ski day.
Keep heading down Flyway right to the top deck of the Spruce Lodge and there you'll find Mount Sunapee's Goosefeathers Pub. If you're not hanging at "The Beach" then Goosefeathers is most certainly the place to be for on-mountain après.
Goosefeathers is not the wild après ski bar scene that you would find at other Vail Resorts, like Cuzzins bar at Mount Snow. What it is, however, is a laid-back, chill vibe that offers a family-friendly atmosphere and really good food and beer.
On Saturdays, the party kicks off around 3 with live music and, depending on the weekend, giveaways. I highly recommend you arrive early so you can get a table. Goosefeathers Pub can get a little packed. Then, once there you must, must, must order their Sidewinder Fries and Chicken Wings.
I'm not exactly sure what they do to make the Sidewinder Fries but they are like no other fries that I've ever eaten. This unique combination between a potato croquette and steak fries gives them a crispy exterior and pillowy interior that is out of this world.
Another dish that is uniquely Sunapee are the wings. Usually, when wings come out unsauced, I'm immediately turned off. However, that was not the case with the Buffalo wings at Goosefeathers pub. Whatever, wing dust they are coated in serves as a flavorful base that is only accentuated once dipped in the Buffalo side sauce and blue cheese.
Be sure to wash both of these fried delights down with Mount Sunapee and Henniker Brewing's collaboration beer, appropriately named "Flyway." A highly palatable and easy-drinking IPA the hops cut through the fattiness of the food in this case. And, on the off chance that you don't take my advice and order those two dishes, Flyway is an excellent choice on its own thanks to its quaffable drinkability.
Don't think that you must stay at the resort for the only good après ski at Mount Sunapee.
You don't.
Head right down the access road where, at the base, right on route 103, you will find the Salt Hill Shanty. Après ski is their specialty. Throughout the ski season, the Salt Hill Shanty has what they call The Acoustic Lift Ticket, a live acoustic music series every Saturday beginning at 7. That's just enough time to get showered up after the mountain and head over.
Once there, I suggest starting your night off with the Pub Pretzel. It's, hands down, one of the best Bavarian Pretzels that I've had at or around any ski resort. The Irish Poutine "Shanty Style" is another must-have. Irish Poutine topped with Corned Beef, this shareable plate will be gone before it hits the table. As far as the rest of the food goes, you can't really go wrong. Each dish is always consistent and well-prepared, especially the burgers.
Salt Hill also has a wide variety of local craft beer on tap. I suggest branching out and giving them a try. You cannot go wrong with any choice you make but if Frosty Goggles from the Woodstock Inn Brewery is on, you should give it a try. This popular winter seasonal is usually available from November through March and is a refreshing Red Ale that will pair well with food or stand on its own.
Photo Credit: Flying Goose Brew Pub Instagram @theflyinggoosebrewpub
You can never go wrong with a good brewpub. So, why list the Flying Goose Brew Pub only as a bonus when it comes to après ski at Mount Sunapee? At roughly a 20-minute drive from the mountain, it's not exactly close. That said, the Flying Goose is not an après ski bar in the traditional sense of the word but definitely worth visiting for dinner, if you are up for the ride.
The setting at the Flying Goose Brew Pub is what you'd expect from a brewery in rural New Hampshire. That is to say, it's quite rustic. What is interesting though is that there are two sides to the restaurant, the dining room and the bar area, and both are entirely different experiences.
The dining room offers more of a comfy and inviting farmhouse feel with exposed beams and a large fireplace. It is on this side that they are able to accommodate large groups (ours was 15), which is a welcome touch. On the other side of the building is the bar area. There, the scene is a bit more vibrant and what you would expect from a brewpub bar.
Nonetheless, wherever you end up sitting you will be treated to an eclectic menu of pub fare complemented by their own house-brewed beers. I'd recommend the Braised Beef Panini. Beef, slow-cooked to perfection and placed on a Ciabatta rolls with caramelized onions, it's a burst of flavor your taste buds will enjoy. Be sure to pair that with their award-winning Ragged Mountain Red Ale. The hoppier profile is unbecoming of a traditional Red Ale but a nice touch when combined with the malty amber backbone.
With most of the choices for après ski at Mount Sunapee ski area either on or right off the mountain it's best to have your après ski clothes already on. I always like to wear a t-shirt like our You Can't Buy Happiness T-shirt over my base layer. Rather than just wearing a bland base layer around the bar, our t-shirt gives this look a little more flare and is certain to start a conversation or two.
If you enjoy finding out about the best places to hang out on your next ski trip, then our Après Ski Blog is for you. Sign up today and never miss another post. You won't be disappointed.

Let's talk about a little place called Aspen. As you may have heard, it's a place where the beer flows like wine, where beautiful women flock like the Salmon of Capistrano.
The French may be assholes (relax, it's a movie reference) but they did coin the phrase, après ski and nowhere is it more unique and lively in the U.S. than Aspen. Sure there is great après wherever you go, but Aspen après ski is different.
Après ski in Aspen is elevated in a way that matches the experience of being at this exotic ski resort. So much so that this would-be small town at the base of the mountain is home to more than 80 restaurants and bars. With so many great après ski restaurants, bars, lounges, etc. to visit, choosing one to go to after a day of skiing can be a daunting task. However, if you are looking for the best for après ski in Aspen, here are seven places you absolutely must check out.
No trip to Aspen would be complete without experiencing après ski at Cloud 9. It's the one bar in America that is arguably closest to the après ski experience in the Swiss Alps. So much so that this Swiss-style cabin is set atop the mountain right near the Cloud 9 lift. That means your going to have to make your way down the mountain after whooping it up at one of their music-thumping champagne parties. Just be sure to make reservations before going, Cloud 9 is as popular as you can get when it comes to Aspen après ski.
Another wildly popular location for on-mountain après ski in Aspen is Ajax Tavern. The combination of a fantastic location and delicious food and drink make this Aspen hotspot the place to see or be seen. With one of the most famous patios in all of the high country, you will be sucked right in at the end of your run right near the Silver Queen Gondola. Once there, the experience takes over and soon enough you'll be knuckles deep in their widely popular truffle fries, chowing on their famous double cheeseburger and dancing around with goggles on and champagne in your hand.
Photo Credit: Aspen Brewing Company Instagram @aspenbrewingcompany
Aspen Brewing Company is Aspen's only craft brewery and is just a short walk away from the gondola. In fact, the owners claim that in good snow years, you can ski right up to the front door of Aspen Tap. Skiing into this brewery would definitely be fun but even if that's not an option, you should pay them a visit. Aspen Brewing Company brews excellent craft beer like their ski-themed This Season's Blonde while serving up some really delicious pub fare. Whether you are a local or just visiting, it's definitely one of the best places to "drink in the view" at après ski in Aspen.
Photo Credit: Hotel Jerome Instagram @hoteljeromeauberge
Hotel Jerome is as legendary as it comes in the ski world and it's J Bar is widely considered one of the best places for après ski in Aspen. Aside from it being the old stomping grounds of famous American journalist Hunter S. Thompson, Bill Murray and Johnny Depp have often been spotted sipping cocktails there as well. There is even a story of it being the location of an epic party for the 10th Mountain Division while training in the years leading up to World War 2.
Historical and modern guests aside, the J Bar offers a low-key speakeasy sort of vibe. Their cocktails are what they are most known for and you should definitely give one of them a try. Just be sure to order what they claim is the best burger in Aspen too. You won't be disappointed with either.
Photo Credit: French Alpine Bistro Instagram @french.alpine.bistro
Located right smack dab in Aspen Village, the French Alpine Bistro is the place to be if you like Raclette, crepes and French alpine vibes. An underground, dimly lit restaurant, the space sets the stage for authentic French après ski in Aspen.
Their wine list is extensive, as it should be for a French restaurant. Take your pick and then cuddle up in one of their furry blankets as you enjoy their delicious fondue and crepes. If your heart, and stomach, need a bit more warming, you must dive into their dinner menu. There you'll find the Truffle Gnocchi-Flette, a riff on a traditional Tartiflette. Black truffle potato gnocchi, bacon, a touch of cream, caramelized onions & melted Gruyère cheese it is the ultimate in French après ski food.
Chica is relatively new to the Aspen après ski scene however, don't let this fool you. Its chef's star power combined with Chica's Latin flare has quickly made it a fan favorite.
Located within the Residences at the Little Nell former Top Chef Masters competitor, Lorena Garcia has brought inspiration from her other locations in Miami and Las Vegas and thrust it into Aspen après ski. Their expansive deck offers you excellent views of Aspen Mountain as you sip on one of their creative craft cocktails and dine on Latin-American-infused bites.
If you don't know Bonnie's then you might need to get out of your ski bubble. Bonnie's Restaurant on Aspen Mountain is iconic. This favorite of locals and visitors alike also happens to be one of the only places where you can (and should) start and end your day.
Well...kinda.
Bonnie's is located mid-mountain so you will have to take a lift up for breakfast and ski down at the end of the day. But, it's definitely worth it. Ride the lift up early and hit up Bonnie's for breakfast before 11 am. Their pancakes are legendary and an absolute Aspen must. Once satiated by these delectable delights, head out and get those laps in before ending your day back at Bonnie's for a beer and their famous white bean chili out on their deck. Just don't stay too long, as I mentioned earlier, you still need to get down.
Much of the on-mountain après-ski in Aspen requires a smooth transition from the slope to the bar. That said, you'll want the best Aspen après-ski fashion for the job. Since Aspen has a tendency to put the boo in bougie, I'd go with our 1/2 Zip Performance Pullover. Available in men's and women's, it has been called by some the "best mid-layer they've ever worn." Beyond that, it will add a bit of class to your après-ski attire when you are catching rays on the patio at Ajax or popping champagne at Cloud 9.
If you enjoy finding out about the best places to hang out on your next ski trip to Aspen or anywhere else in the high country, then our Après Ski Blog is for you. Sign up today and never miss another post. You won't be disappointed.

With that much acreage filled with secret pow stashes, open bowls and even perfect corduroy right there for the taking, visitors are likely to work up an appetite. Powder Mountain's name may get you to the mountain but now they're giving you a reason to stay and hang a little bit longer.
Don’t let your fun end on the slopes!
This ski season, Powder Mountain has opened a new aprés-ski experience at Bower Lodge for those wanting to let the good times roll a little longer.
PC: Courtesy of Powder Mountain
New this season at Powder Mountain, Aprés at Bower Lodge is the perfect place to socialize with old friends and meet new ones. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays skiers and snowboarders can head on in from 3 pm-10 pm and partake in an eclectic menu complete with chef-driven dishes and creative craft cocktails.
The menu will feature delicious dishes such as asparagus fries with lemon aioli and rosemary salt; asian sticky ribs topped with scallions, lemon zest and crispy garlic; and an assortment of flatbreads including three cheese, basil pesto, pepperoni and ricotta prosciutto.
PC: Courtesy of Powder Mountain
No aprés is complete without a refreshing beverage or two. To complement its new menu, Powder Mountain will be serving up a new selection of craft cocktails as unique as the dishes themselves.
Featured cocktails include the Rick Rambis, made with tequila, mezcal, mango, lemon tamarind and soda topped with a mango salt rim; or the Gnar-groni made with bosuns navy strength gin, water pocket meade and ransom sweet vermouth.
PC: Courtesy of Powder Mountain
Aprés ski on the weekends sounds perfect. But, what do you do if you find yourself at Powder Mountain and it's not a weekend? No worries, they have you covered on that front as well as their Pizza and Pints night returns with a twist.
Who doesn't love a good slice of pizza and a frosty beverage after a day of shredding that much pow?
UMMMM...no one!
In the past, Pizza and Pints was an all-you-can-eat buffet of pizza, wings and salad paired with a tap takeover from a local brewery. This winter, the Bower Lodge is mixing it up. Yes, Pizza and Pints Night will still maintain its tap takeover component...getting rid of that would be blasphemy. However, now, instead of a buffet, it will feature a new a-la-carte menu and table service on Thursday nights.
This should ultimately create an environment that is easier, safer and more relaxing for the consumer.

]]>320" is a hell of a lot of snow, but that's only the beginning. Brundage has 1,920 acres of lift-accessed terrain, plus an additional 420 unpatrolled lift-accessed backcountry terrain. Combine that with 18,000 acres of guided backcountry skiing and Brundage is Idaho skiing's hidden gem.
With all this deep snow and top-notch terrain right there for the taking, skiers and snowboarders are sure to work up an appetite by the end of the day. To satiate your hunger, Brundage Mountain has plenty of restaurant options to choose from. Smoky's Bar and Grill, Upper Lot Pub and Bear's Den are all worthy choices after a day of skiing Brundage. However, this winter food lovers can elevate their taste buds to new heights as the Brundage Mountain Resort culinary team announces the return of its signature dining experience, the Bear’s Den Dinner After Dark.
The after-hours culinary adventure takes place in Brundage Mountain's popular Bear's Den. If you have been there, you will know that it is a cozy and inviting setting that patrons love to visit. It is, however, located mid-mountain and these dinners do take place after dark.
So how do diners get to the Bear's Den when the sun ceases to shine?
By snowcat, of course!
Climbing aboard, you will be treated to a scenic ride up Brundage Mountain to the mid-mountain log cabin that is Bear's Den. Once there, settle in with a cocktail and be prepared to be treated to a four-course meal featuring a rotating menu of seasonal fresh dishes accompanied by craft beer and wine selections.
The setting is rustic, the conversation is convivial and the meal is simply spectacular.
“This is one of those experiences that you never forget,” says Brundage General Manager, Ken Rider. “From start to finish, our team is working on every detail to make this a one-of-a-kind adventure.”
The Bear’s Den Snowcat dinners kicked off in 2017 and quickly gained an enthusiastic following. They eventually came to a screeching halt like everything else in 2020. Thanks, Covid.
Now, the Bear's Den Dinner After Dark is back on track for the 2022-23 Winter season. Set to begin in mid-January, reservations are required and space is limited. So if you are looking to be a part of Brundage Mountain's memorable snowcat dinner experience, reserve your spot today.
Once you make your reservations for the Bear's Den snowcat dinner at Brundage Mountain you need to start thinking about your après ski attire. Don't worry too much though. We have you covered, quite literally. Our Après Ski Fleece Crewneck is perfect for the occasion. Soft, stylish and comfortable, it can be classed up by wearing your fanciest flannel underneath. This will have you looking good and keeping warm on your snowcat trek up the mountain.

]]>When it comes to après ski we certainly don't discriminate against any particular day of the week. All days that end in "Y" work for us as we are firm believers that if you don't après ski, you were never really skiing at all.
Clearly The Golden Mill in Golden, Co supports our mantra. Proving that Après ski is not just for the weekend The Golden Mill is bringing back its ever-popular Après Wednesdays this winter much to the delight of their fans.
The Golden Mill first opened its doors in the spring of 2021. Since that time, they have become a popular après everything destination year-round.
"The Golden Mill is always a fantastic destination for après adventure of any kind – year-round. We often have guests who stop by not only after a day on the slopes but after a hike in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, a mountain biking excursion or summer tubing on Clear Creek, says Susan Ganter, co-owner of The Golden Mill.
Whether hiking, biking, tubing or more many people stop in for some libations and food post-activity. However, the people at The Golden Mill aren't necessarily all about après.
Knowing full well that fitness is an essential component of many of our favorite outdoor activities The Golden Mill has also hosted a variety of conditioning classes for its patrons.
This summer their Keg Konditioning class was extremely popular, drawing in many patrons for the fitness class and then staying for a few pints after. Now, building on the popularity of Keg Kondtitioning The Golden Mill has partnered with national physiotherapy and fitness brand, Evolution PT, to stage a Wintervention – ski conditioning classes for all levels.
Talk about earning your après.
I guess it's a good thing that beginning January 4, 2023, The Golden Mill will bring back their popular Après Wednesdays.
This year Après Wednesdays will run from January 4 - March 9 and is going to be bigger and better than before. Sponsored by New Belgium, every Wednesday from 5-8, guests can enjoy live music, giveaways, ski/snowboard merchandise, ski/snowboard tunes, happy hour drink specials and more.
Each month there will be raffles and giveaways at a bigger event on the last Wednesday of each month. They are even adding an “end-of-season bash” in April.
Additionally, for every pint of Fat Tire (a New Belgium flagship beer) that’s sold, The Golden Mill will donate $1 to Protect Our Winters.
Although not a resort town itself, Golden is a convenient stop on the way to Denver from the I-70 corridor. This ultimately makes The Golden Mill a perfect place to escape the traffic for a bit and stretch your legs, while enjoying some refreshing beverages and a good meal.
This puts The Golden Mill roughly 1 hour away from Arapahoe Basin and Eldora and only 50 minutes from Loveland. With a location like this, it’s a great option for people who live or are staying at hotels in the Golden and metro Denver area.
"Many of the people who visit us for après are either residents on the Front Range of the mountains (Golden, Boulder, Denver, metro area) or visitors from out of state. We have more, cheaper, and better food and drink options than most on-hill après spots – as far as I know, none of them have five distinct cuisines and 50+ self-pour taps!" says Susan Ganter, co-owner of The Golden Mill.
The Golden Mill is the triple threat of après ski options away from the mountain resorts. Their location in Golden, Co is a reasonable drive from a few major resorts and a great halfway point between the resorts and Denver. It also has a fantastic menu and 50 self-pouring taps to wash all that tasty food down with. Therefore, it only seems natural that hosting a weekly event called Après Wednesdays is as much of a no-brainer as it is for you to take a slight detour and stop in for the party on your way home.
While there it only makes sense for you to rock your best and most comfortable apres ski clothing. Our Raised on Après Ski Hoodie is the perfect fit. Easy enough to throw on for your car ride home but with cool graphics that highlight your love for the best part of the ski day. You will certainly fit in when wearing it at your next Après Wednesday party.
If you enjoy finding out about the best places to hang out on your next ski trip, then our Après Ski Blog is for you. Sign up today and never miss another post. You won't be disappointed.

Park City, Utah is dubbed Winter's Favorite Town for a reason. Actually, it's for a variety of reasons. Park City is home to two of our country's best ski resorts - Park City Ski Resort and Deer Valley. It also offers visitors the ability to participate in a variety of other activities and finish their day amidst the amazing shops, restaurants and bars located on Main Street. With so many options to choose from the park city après ski and nightlife scene ranks right up near the top.
From fancy resort bars to divey local watering holes and everywhere in between, après ski in Park City, Utah has a little something for everyone.
Need some help choosing?
Here are 7 of our top picks for the best après ski in Park City.
Take a look at any 'best of' après ski list and you would be hard-pressed to find one that does not include High West Distillery and Saloon on it. Located just off Main Street next to the town lift and at the base of Park City Mountain's Quittin' Time trail, it is the world's only ski-in gastro distillery.
At one point in time, this was where High West made all their award-winning whiskeys including their famous Campfire, a unique blend of bourbon, scotch and rye. Now, due to demand, production has moved elsewhere and what remains is a hopping restaurant and bar.
Housed in an old livery stable the atmosphere alone will draw you in with a touch of the old west. You must experience it yourself to truly appreciate the ambiance but think exposed wooden beams and the look of an old time saloon.
Once inside, the creative craft cocktails and delicious food will make you Park City apres last for hours on end. Their chicken wings are some of the best that I've ever had and the burger is an absolute must!
Photo Credit: No Name Saloon Instagram
This town hot spot may have no name but it has certainly made a name for itself as one of the most popular spots for Park City, Utah nightlife. In fact, it may have put this ski town on the map.
You can certainly start there after your day on the mountain but it's later in the evening when the No Name Saloon starts to go off.
Their Buffalo Burger is famous for a reason. It's that good. Wash it all down with local beers as your eyes wander from wall to ceiling to wall checking out all the stuff they have hanging from it. From taxidermy to motorcycles and even a toilet bowl or 10 it redefines what can be considered wall art.
Photo Credit: St. Regis Deer Valley Instagram
The St. Regis Deer Valley does après ski in Park City like they do everything else - on another level. This ski in ski out hotel redefines extravagance. The lobby hosts a free hot chocolate bar every afternoon. Head right there and top yours with everything from whipped cream to toffee chips.
The Bloody Mary at the St. Regis Bar has its own legendary status, as well it should. The original version of the Bloody Mary was created way back when at the New York City St. Regis. Now each location puts its own creative spin on this classic cocktail. For example, the one in Park City is topped with wasabi celery foam. As I said...they do things on another level here.
Just when you thought that was all, you won't want to miss the champagne sabering. Go for a ride on the funicular up to the top and watch as the bartender takes to action, slicing off the end of the bottle and pouring a round for the entire patio.
Photo Credit: The Montage Deer Valley Instagram
Nothing says bougie après ski in Park City like a venue sponsored by Veuve Clicquot Champagne. Located slopeside at Deer Valley, right behind the Montage resort your eyes will be drawn to this bright yellow Veuve Clicquot après ski yurt as you come down to the bottom of Empire Mountain.
Park your skis and head inside to find the Après Lounge. It is both cozy and luxurious all in one. Kick off your ski boots and relax on one of their plush fur couches. Then order yourself some gourmet tuna tartar, cheese and/or charcuterie while you sip your champagne. The Veuve Clicquot Après Ski Yurt at Deer Valley is the ultimate on-mountain luxury après ski in Park City.

If outdoor après and a fun, lively crowd is your thing then there is no better place in Park City than the Umbrella Bar. Located in the heart of The Canyons Village, click out of your skis and walk right on over from the base of the Red Pine Gondola. On the colder days, the circular bar remains encased in glass. When the temps warm and the windows go up, this open-air bar is the place to be.
This is especially true during Park City Ski Resort's annual Spring Gruv concert series. Each weekend you can enjoy local and national music acts as you sip local brews and nosh on tasty wings and burgers. The bar itself is for 21 and older so be ready to party, but you won't have to worry too much about the kids. They'll probably have their own good time hanging on the grass and dancing to the music.
The Champions Club at the Stein Eriksen Lodge is the spot if you have kids. Stein Eriksen Lodge is known for its luxurious accommodations and top-notch service but they haven't forgotten to make it fun for the kids. The Champions Club's 3500 square foot entertainment center includes a wide variety of games both new and old school.
The casual dining area fits the scenery which on any given day includes parents ordering a drink from the full-service bar and then joining their children in a game or two. Not to mention that, at any time, you could walk right upstairs to the awesome Troll Hallen Lounge for a peek at their equally amazing après ski menu. Chances are you probably won't since you'll be having so much fun kicking your kid's butt in air hockey but it's certainly worth it if you so choose.
Photo Credit: The Spur Bar and Grill Instagram
You want your Park City après ski experience to include live music? You got it! The Spur is always live...literally. They have live music every single night! Musicians of multiple genres (country, blues, rock, bluegrass) come from all over the country to rock this local institution.
The atmosphere at The Spur is a unique combination of comfortable western chic. Their food is available all day (yes, they serve breakfast) and is damn good. If they still serve the jambalaya Mac and cheese you must, must, must order this comfort food delight. Then wash it down with a wide array of local, regional and national beers on tap or their own whiskey, a collaboration between them and local distiller Alpine.
Do you have a favorite spot to hang post-ski day in Park City? If so, let us know in the comments section below. No matter where it is, don't forget to wear your favorite après ski clothes. Nothing says Winter's Favorite Town like a comfortable ski sweatshirt. Our Après Ski Fleece Sweatshirt offers the classic look of a crewneck with the soft comfort of the fleece lining. It's the ultimate layer to take you right from the slopes to the bar.

]]>When it comes to picturesque destinations to go skiing, you will be hard-pressed to find any more idyllic than Lake Tahoe. A Lake Tahoe ski trip offer some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the country and stunning views of the lake itself. Combine this with their close proximity to the ever-evolving mecca that is Reno, Nevada and you have the makings of the perfect ski and snowboard destination.
For a long time, when I was younger, I can remember a multitude of advertisements dotting ski magazines touting skiing near Reno Tahoe as an excellent winter destination.
Why wouldn't it be? Ski resorts near reno are abound.
Believe it or not, Reno Tahoe boasts the highest concentration of ski resorts in North America. It is also conveniently located within close proximity to many of Lake Tahoe's best ski resorts like Northstar, Palisades Tahoe and Mount Rose. Add in that the "Biggest Little City in the World" is an après ski lovers dream filled with bars, restaurants and, of course, casinos and it is easy to see why Reno Tahoe is an excellent choice for your next Lake Tahoe ski trip.
Back in the 80s and 90s, the nightlife in Reno, Nevada was the driving force behind this city's success. Skiers and boarders from all over came to visit Lake Tahoe's best ski resorts. Then Reno fell on hard times.
The casinos, once the catalyst behind the city's tourism, began to struggle in large part due to the rise of land-based casinos and legalized gambling. As the casinos fell, so too did Reno. No longer the après ski mecca of the past, it struggled to attract anyone to visit, let alone the ski and snowboard community.
Big trees fall hard, but you can't get back up if you don't try.
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Reno, Nevada is back and better than ever. By attracting companies like Tesla, Blockchains and Google, the city of Reno has seen a resurgence in the last decade that has turned it into a mini Silicon Valley. Investments from businesses like this brought with it the finances to rebuild and reinvent itself. Along came the Burning Man Concert and an influx of art, new businesses, restaurants and breweries. Reno has returned to its former glory yet in a new and in many ways better version of its past self.
Reno Tahoe has returned and now it is poised for yours.
Not convinced?
Here are five reasons we love Reno Tahoe and believe you should book a Lake Tahoe ski trip in the near future.
As previously mentioned Reno Tahoe has the highest concentration of ski resorts in North America and all of them are a short drive away. The distance from Reno to Lake Tahoe (depending upon where you go) is quite close. Within 40 minutes or less, you can be skiing and snowboarding at some of the best ski resorts near Reno.
Looking for family-friendly? Then Northstar Ski Resort is a must. Northstar is easy to navigate, making it ideal for families looking to stay together throughout the day. But, don't let this fool you into thinking Northstar is easy. Certain areas of the mountain can be super challenging. This gives parents who enjoy breaking off from the family for a few serious turns throughout the day the option to do so. Then, you can all reconvene in their base village and take advantage of their complimentary S'mores at Four.
Want an out-of-bounds ski experience that is all inbounds? Then Palisades Tahoe needs to be on your list. With the ability to ski pretty much anywhere on the mountain it offers some of the most fun skiing I've ever experienced. Plus, anytime you can end your day at the legendary Le Chamois for après ski it doesn't get much better.
Not to be outdone in all of this is Mount Rose. Located a convenient 20-minute drive from downtown Reno this no-frills ski resort boasts a whopping 8,262' foot base elevation. That means they can start their season earlier and end later than the other local resorts. Don't let the phrase "no-frills" fool you into thinking this place isn't worth your time. Mount Rose is legit! The area they call The Chutes features gnarly trails that are every bit of a 50-degree pitch.
There is nothing better than a cold craft beer after a hard-charging day on the slopes. Lucky for you, you can drink plenty of them in Reno's ever-growing craft beer scene. Hell, there are so many of them that, you can turn après-ski into your own little Reno beer crawl. Add is stops at a few of the Reno distilleries and you could easily take a break from the slopes and make a day out of it.
The Depot is a fan favorite. Located within an old refurbished train depot it provides ample ambiance to their already great beer, spirits and food options.
Lead Dog Brewing is always fun too. With plenty of space to spread out, you and your crew can relax and play games while you sample their many beers.
Brasserie St. James is also a must. Their atmosphere screams après ski and complements their tasty comfort food and delicious craft beers. Fun fact, their beers are brewed with water that they get from a spring directly underneath the brewery itself.
Finally, if are just talking beer, IMBIB Custom Brews is arguably my favorite. The atmosphere doesn't rival The Depot or Brasserie but the brews are unique, very well made and enough to draw you in and keep you there for hours.
No ski day is complete without a proper après ski session. Reno Tahoe's bar and restaurant scene has you fully covered. Many of the aforementioned breweries in Reno are brewpubs and have excellent food to complement their craft beer. However, this is the tip of the iceberg. The food scene in the city and the surrounding area goes far beyond that.
Midtown Eats is popular and for good reason. One look at the menu and you'll be hooked. A modern take on southern BBQ classics, your best bet is to order a bunch of dishes and split them amongst everyone at the table.
Von Bismarck is an absolute must! This upscale Biergarten serves German food that is to die for. It's legitimately THAT good and the perfect pairing for their extensive collection of German beers. Order the schnitzel (pictured above) for the table, you won’t regret it. It's the largest I've ever seen in my life.
If you want to venture out of the area I highly recommend The Bourbon Pub in Northstar Village. Opened in 2019 by internationally acclaimed restaurateur Michael Mina they are putting their creative spin on traditional pub fare. Just get the nachos and you'll instantly understand when the server shows up with your dish and a mezzaluna knife that looks like a Medieval weapon. Oh, the carnage that will ensue.
I've already mentioned some of the great bars, restaurants and breweries in the area. For me, that is all the nightlife that I need to finish up my Reno Tahoe après ski experience. That said there are plenty more late-night options for the taking, especially if you are into gaming and craft cocktails.
Want to try your luck at blackjack, roulette, poker and more? Throw a stone and you should have no trouble hitting any one of the many casinos in Reno. When I was there, I stayed at the Peppermill and although this resort is on the opposite side of town than the others it's worth a visit. It's Vegas without being Vegas. Opulent beauty at every turn, cocktail bars and, of course, all the games a gambler could want in a casino.
If betting isn't your thing (it's not mine either) I highly recommend checking out some of the swanky craft cocktail bars that have popped up around town. They say Death and Taxes are the only two guarantees in life. Adding a visit to the bar with that name should be the third. All of the cocktails they are stirring up a Death and Taxes are creative and handcrafted with the freshest seasonal ingredients.
No day is ever complete without dessert, a dessert bar that is. For this, you must stop at Reno's only dessert bar, The Arch Society. There you can and should pair their outrageous desserts with some of the finest cocktails made with locally sourced organic ingredients.
The Sierra Nevada Mountains that surround Reno are quite high but they aren't the only thing in the city to boast a lofty elevation. Head downtown and you can find the Guinness World Record’s Tallest Climbing Wall. Located on the side of the Whitney Peak Hotel, climbing it will have you reaching new heights and a whole new perspective on the area.
Scale the face of the Whitney and then bask in the beautiful views of the surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains that you love to ski and snowboard on. It's breathtaking!
Chances are, you are already booking a flight to Reno Tahoe. Before you go, make sure you are prepared by having the right après ski clothes for your adventures.
Grab yourself our one-of-a-kind If You Don’t Après Ski Tee to stand out at the Lake Tahoe ski resorts and après ski in Reno Tahoe.

I have long been a fan of ski movies. From the great Warren Miller films to the new age Teton Gravity Research and Match Stick Production films they have always been an integral part of my ski culture.
Now my long-standing love for these films has been passed along to a new generation...my three daughters.
We love ski movies in our family, especially après ski where you can often find them on loop while we sip beers and socialize at our house in Vermont. We definitely find that it only adds to the atmosphere at day's end.
As good though as all the skiers in these films are, my girls get even more pumped when a scene featuring female skiers comes on. They are mesmerized by their ability to ski the steepest lines right alongside the boys.
However, for a long time, women-only scenes have been few and far between.
That is until now.
This fall, Nexus, a feature-length ski film featuring an all-female cast of
skiers will make its debut.
“For years, top women in the ski industry have heard the same sentiment ‘we already have a girl in this segment, one is enough,” said Michelle Parker, one of the industry’s most prominent freeskiers and Nexus athlete.
This is all about to change.
Nexus follows five distinct groups of female skiers, their connection to the mountains and how the sport shaped their relationships. From the Chugach
Mountains in Alaska to the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, Nexus uses these dramatic backdrops to explore the lessons these athletes have learned on their skis.
From adversity to strength and friendship the film navigates each theme from powder stashes to couloirs and everything in between.
Nexus is not the first ever all-female ski film. That distinction goes to Lynsey Dyer and her movie Pretty Faces. Nexus is, however, the first high-budget feature film, both directed and produced by an all-female team.
That is something to be celebrated as it definitely shows a positive change in the industry.
“If we want to see a change in this industry, we need to be the ones out there moving it forward. Nexus is a milestone this industry was long overdue for," says Parker.
Nexus director and executive producers Shannon Corsi echoes this sentiment.
“It’s been incredible to have the opportunity to bring it to life and to have seen such support from athletes, brands, and other creatives along the way. To be part of the team who brought this concept from ‘I wish there were more women’s
ski films’ to a year and a half later, standing on top of Alaskan ridgelines with some of the best action cinematographers in the game has been a surreal journey.”
The journey begins in Jackson Hole. There, Wyoming locals Jane Gallie and Margo Krisjansons (who are now in their sixties) set the stage for the remaining epic four segments. They have been skiing the backcountry of the Tetons for 40 years and still get out as many days a year as they can. Jane and Margo also happen to be the tie that binds the film together, introducing each of the remaining segments of Nexus.
The other four scenes include Michelle Parker and Brooklyn Bell in Alaska; Queens of Corbett's winners Veronica Paulsen and Caite Zeliff in Revelstoke; big mountain skiers by day and nurses by night Lucy Sackbauer and Ingrid Stensvaag; and two Vietnamese sisters whose parents escaped from the Vietnam war, Krystin Norman and Sasha Dingle.
Arc’teryx is the principal sponsor of the film and will be hosting a North American film festival where Nexus will be debuted, followed by a regional film tour. The film will be digitally released this winter.

“Nexus is the film we all wished we had growing up,” says Shannon Corsi, director and executive producer of Nexus.
I'm just stoked that this ski movie has come out now while my daughters are still young. Finally, they'll no longer have to wait for the one or two scenes in ski movies that feature a female skier to get pumped and see that a girl can ski just as well as the guys. That feeling will be there the whole time and I can't wait to watch it with them this winter.
As I mentioned earlier, ski movies are constantly on loop at our place in Vermont. There is nothing like coming home after a great day on the mountain, getting out of your ski clothes, cracking open a cold beer and watching some sick footage. We love throwing on our ski hoodies and all have our favorites. But, my girls absolutely love our Happily Ever Après Ski Hoodie.
Why?
Because après ski is always the happiest time of day.

So much in our lives has changed since the current Covid-19 pandemic came upon us almost two years ago. Our beloved ski and snowboard industry has not been the same since. Travel has suffered greatly and so too has the food and beverage industry. Combined, they make up a huge and important component of a good ski vacation.
Obviously, we need to get to our ski destination first. Then, once there, we will definitely need to eat. Despite these prevailing issues within the ski industry, there is some good to come out of the chaos. It has forced those within the industry to pivot in order to survive. One such location is Stowe Mountain Resort. There, the new Lodge at Spruce Peak restaurants have been unveiled and are climbing their way to the top of the list of best restaurants in Stowe, Vt.
Creative juices have been flowing at ski resorts across North America since they were forced to shut down in the spring of 2020. Since that time we have seen ski resorts like Snowbasin has made many improvements ahead of their 80th anniversary season. The Lodge at Spruce Peak, located at Stowe Mountain Resort was no exception.
Prior to the 2020-21 winter season, new Spruce Peak Lodge restaurants opened that included a sushi bar, the heated WhistlePig Pavilion and private igloos. With additions like this, there is no doubt that guests found their Stowe apres ski experience quite elevated.
Fast forward one year and the Spruce Peak Lodge is back at it. In December of 2022 two more dining options that will rank among the best restaurants in Stowe, Vt.
During the 20-21 winter season, the Lodge at Spruce Peak announced an all new après-experience highlighted by fresh sushi, excellent libations and their new private outdoor igloos.
Après-ski in an igloo sounds fantastic. Sign me up!
Spruce Peak Lodge has taken their igloos to another level. Amidst spectacular views of Mount Mansfield, you can enjoy upscale après Stowe dining options that include S’mores, Fondue, gourmet hot chocolate and more! There is also the new Mansfield Terrace Sushi Bar featuring the freshest sushi on the slopes.
Just the idea of the WhistlePig Pavilion sounds spectacular.
You really can't go wrong with a heated outdoor bar area named after a great whiskey brand, right?
WhistlePig makes some excellent whiskeys and this Spruce Peak Lodge restaurant is make all their drinks with the local WhistlePig rye whiskey. Whether served neat or mixed up in a creative cocktail, the menu at WhistlePig Pavilion will certainly warm you up after a day of Stowe Vermont skiing.
If you thought that was enough, you were wrong. The WhistlePig Pavilion is serving up more than just great whiskey.
What could be better than whiskey after a day on the slopes?
Fire-baked raclette cheese, of course. I can't think of anything more après-ski appropriate than an Old Fashioned paired with ooey, gooey raclette.
They even have raclette nachos! Talk about taking it to the next level.
In December 2021 The Lodge at Spruce Peak added two new restaurants in Stowe, Vt. The Tipsy Trout is a coastal inspired, cocktail forward Sprue Peak restaurant that brings the sea right to the base of Mt. Mansfield.
The unique combines the region's best seafood with culinary techniques that are uniquely Vermont. An extensive raw bar highlights a menu that also includes shareable apps and delectable seafood entrees.
The Tipsy Trout also has a dedicated wine program as well as creative cocktail menu created by their own expert mixologists.
How else will the Trout get tipsy? Duh.
While the trout gets a little tipsy, you can also experience all the is Vermont mountain culture at the Alpine Hall. The simple, yet elevated menu is a true farm-to-table experience that is designed to celebrate the idea of community. The area's local growers are highlighted in their menu while the bar and tables were even made by local artisans.
Nothing says community like après ski and this Stowe Mountain Resort restaurant is made for meeting. Gather in the Alpine Hall with friends and family after a day on the mountain. There you can share stories over local IPAs and replenish your stores hearty comfort food and good times.

"The Biggest Little City in the World" is really starting to come into its own. Tech companies like Apple, Telsa and Google have all moved into town. With them brought a wave of new blood that has revitalized the once downtrodden city. Reno is no longer a forlorn gambling destination. It is now a center for skiers and snowboarders seeking to take advantage of its close proximity to the incredible skiing in and around Lake Tahoe.
The highly underrated Mt. Rose is only 20 minutes outside of Reno, Nevada. Drive a little further to north Lake Tahoe and you will find top-notch resorts such as Palisades Tahoe and Northstar. Not to be outdone is the skiing on the south side of the lake. There, Heavenly and Kirkwood are sure to capture your imagination.
Yes, Reno's prime location definitely makes the city worthy as a ski and snowboard destination, but that is not all it has to offer. Reno, Nevada's quirky mix of mountain town meets Vegas makes the city an excellent location to stay and hang après ski. Turn one corner and you'll find a monster casino staring you in the face. Head to another part of town and you'd be hard-pressed not to find an excellent restaurant and one of the many breweries in Reno.
Yes, there are breweries in Reno. In fact, the Reno craft beer scene is budding and continues to grow each and every year. This gives skiers and snowboarders plenty of options to satiate their taste buds with their favorite après ski beverage while in town.
So go ahead, turn your next après ski session into a Reno beer crawl and be sure to stop at these five stops along the way.

No Reno craft beer list would be complete without Great Basin Brewing on it. After all, they began the revolution when they became the first official brewery to open their doors in Reno in 1993.
The original brewery is technically in Sparks but Great Basin does have a location in south Reno too. Both locations serve food and between the two of them brew about 11,000 barrels of beer per year. Be sure to try their most popular beer, the Icky IPA. Short for the state fossil, Ichthyosaur, it is one of their original beers and the recipe hasn't changed much over time.

The Depot is definitely one of the coolest-looking breweries on the list. The three-story brick building was built in 1910 and was once the headquarters for the Nevada-California-Oregon Railway. Now it serves as a cornerstone of an up-and-coming neighborhood in downtown Reno.
Double the pleasure, double the fun at The Depot. They are not only a brewery but also a distillery. The Depot also serves up some creatively tasty food. So whether you are just looking to drink or dine in as well, The Depot has it all.

To say Lead Dog Brewing has grown since opening in 2016 is quite an understatement. It's flourished! So much so that only three years after opening the original East Fourth Street location in Reno, they opened an 18,000 Square foot facility in Sparks too. Lead Dog needed this space to accommodate their exponential growth, particularly during the pandemic when they began canning almost double the amount of beer they had been prior.
Now the East Fourth Street location serves as a "brewtique" so to speak. Only a short walk from downtown it is a worthy stop on your Reno beer crawl. Lead Dog's award-winning craft beer is delicious. Not to mention, you are sure to have a good time while you play games like cornhole and shuffleboard with friends.

Take one look inside Brasserie St. James and you will be hooked. The unique industrial lodge look accentuated by multiple stone fireplaces is, not only, captivating but screams après ski. Their atmosphere sets the stage for their award-winning craft beer and delicious food. In fact, it was this combination that earned them the Best Mid-size Brewpub award at the Great American Beer Festival in 2014.
Since then, The Brasserie has continued to grow in popularity. Dishes like the Brasserie Poutine and Southern Fried Chicken are creative takes on comfort classics. Equally innovative are their beers which connect the old and the new. Daily Wages, a Farm-Hand Saison, is an excellent Old World style while the Sierra Candy, a West Coast IPA is something we all can recognize.

Imbib is yet another award-winning brewery in Reno, and with good reason. Their beers are authentically innovative and some of the best I've had. By combining traditional styles with unique ingredients they push they are breaking boundaries with their brewing. This has ultimately earned them multiple awards at major beer festivals.
Don't think for one second that their creativity will prevent you from finding something that you like on their beer menu. It won't. Imbib prides itself on brewing enough styles for everyone to enjoy. IPAs, Stouts, Bocks, Sours and more, they brew them all. More importantly, they brew them all well, making Imbib a must on your Reno beer crawl.
These five breweries in Reno are the mere tip of the iceberg. There are many others that are also great and worthy of your time. Whether you are hitting up the ones above or adding in a few of your own, it's important you have the right après ski clothes for your Reno beer crawl.
Our Raised on Après Ski Hoodie is an excellent choice for the occasion. Having a ski hoodie on hand is important given the potential temperature swings in Reno. And, the pint raised over the mountains will show everyone your love for craft beer at après ski.
If you enjoy finding out about the best places to hang and drink great craft beer on your next ski trip, then our Après Ski Blog is for you. Sign up today and never miss another post.

All my brother-in-law wanted was a maple latte from J.J. Hapgood General Store and Eatery. It seemed like a simple request. I mean how hard could it be to get this poor guy a cup of coffee, especially when we were right down the road at Stratton Mountain.
Apparently, it was impossible.
He never did get that maple latte, held back by the differing opinions of family on where to go next.
It happens.
I kind of did feel bad when I made my way over there a day after he left and got one of my own. I had to. My brother-in-law, having been to JJ Hapgood in the winter of that year when visiting Bromley Mountain Ski Resort, had talked it up so much. Not getting one would have been plain old wrong.
It was delicious and the trip there was fortuitous which is why I don't feel too bad about going without him. His elusive latte was ultimately my gain as it introduced me to one of the most unique general stores I've ever seen, J.J. Hapgood General Store and Eatery.
J.J. Hapgood is so much more than just a general store. It's a magical place where an old town market becomes a place for people to linger, gather and indulge in deliciously creative food and drink.
In fact, JJ Hapgood is cooking up some tastiest food in the Green Mountain State, while pouring, hard to find, Vermont beers and serving as a gathering spot for a quick bite, dinner and, of course, après ski while at Bromley Mountain Ski Resort.

Owner, Juliette Britton grew up in the small town of Peru, Vermont. When she returned with her husband and children, J.J. Hapgood general store had been shut down for three years. Growing up in the area, she remembers the location well. Dating all the way back to when it first opened in 1827, JJ Hapgood was the longest continuously running general store in Vermont until it closed in 2009.
Being a local, Britton's ties to this store, "ran deep." So much so, that seeing it close down was disappointing.
Immediately the wheels started turning trying to think of ways to bring back this village cornerstone. The Brittons considered various business endeavors before deciding, "to go for it and (they) took on the challenge of restoring the community hub in the small village of Peru."

The notion of simply opening a general store in an area as off the beaten path as Peru seemed like a major risk. Bromley Mountain Ski Resort is a few minutes away while Stratton Mountain Resort and Magic Mountain are a bit further, but beyond that, Peru isn't exactly a major Vermont town.
With this in mind, the question of sustainability over the long term immediately surfaced for this husband and wife team. Yes, general stores have a great history in Vermont however, could one withstand the test of modern times in this specific location?
The answer that the Brittons kept coming back to was, probably not. At least not in the traditional way. Ultimately, this set them on a course to not only rebuild but also revamp the former JJ Hapgood general store.
Their new business plan began with the addition of a kitchen to the location and, more recently, a bar. This turned out to be a brilliant idea and a primary contributor to their success. The new food and beverage concept is what is driving this business. It has not only brought back JJ Hapgood as a local market but also turned it into a prime après ski and dining location for those visiting nearby Bromley Mountain Ski Resort.
"The atmosphere at JJ Hapgood is very unique and comfortable! The backdrop of a general store is very unique and seems to resonate with everyone. It is a perfect balance of nostalgia with a modern twist that just seems to work!" said Britton.
Having been there on multiple occasions, I could not agree more.

When you walk in, you immediately realize that this is far from your grandfather's general store. Beyond the quaint small-town market feel, it is JJ Hapgood's role as an eatery and place to gather that sets them apart.
The food offerings on their menu are freshly made with locally sourced ingredients. They also happen to be highly creative yet simple all at once. For this, they have been recognized for their food time and again by many publications such as Thrillist and Maxim.
JJ Hapgood's homemade biscuits are a must-try. They have been recognized nationally! Alone and warmed with a little bit of butter it is a delight. However, you really need to order their breakfast sandwich. Serving as the vessel from Vermont fresh bacon, eggs and cheese it is to die for.
Their wood-fired pizzas and sandwiches are equally delicious and also widely publicized. The Pulled Pork Pizza was recognized by Vermont Fresh Network as one of the ten best pizzas in all of Vermont. And, their "Plymouth Hunter" was named as the best Vermonter Sandwich in a USA Today reader's choice travel poll.
As if delicious food isn't enough, J.J. Hapgood also has a series of taps. Pouring out tremendous craft beer from the state of Vermont like the widely acclaimed and hard-to-come-by Hill Farmstead, you will have plenty of excellent options to wash down each savory bite.

Through word of mouth and a highly active social media platform that keeps patrons up to date on the food and entertainment offerings, people are starting to take notice of what is a uniquely special place to gather and dine.
It's hard to blame them...JJ Hapgood is that good.
Whether you are popping in for a quick breakfast sandwich, grabbing a beer or two après ski or having a nice dinner with friends and family J.J. Hapgood is proving to be a general store that is far from general.
Whether you are stopping into JJ Hapgood en route to skiing at Bromley Mountain or hanging there après ski we have the best ski clothing for either occasion.
Our Happily Ever Après ski sweatshirt is an excellent choice. Wear it while running in for one of their excellent lattes in the morning. Then use it as a mid-layer while skiing for the day. This way you'll be ready to ditch your coat when you head back to JJ Hapgood for beers and show everyone that you are happily ever après.
Do you enjoy good times with good people at some of the finest places après ski has to offer? If so, then our Après Ski Blog is for you. Sign up today and never miss another post. You won't be disappointed.
